    Dirt Track Racing 2

I'm just curious if any of you all still play this? I am looking into purchasing this as I used to love the original Dirt Track Racing game that came out in 1999. I must have lost it sometime over the last few years.

Anyways, I'm looking into purchasing Dirt Track Racing 2 off Amazon for about $7 or so. Is the game still worth playing? I love NR 2003 and all it offers, but it would be nice to have a dirt track racing game.

    Thanks.

It's a solid game. Good fun. But if you can find a copy of Ratbag's World of Outlaws Sprint Cars for the PC (released around 2002 or 2003), grab it in a second. PHENOMENAL game -- the best dirt-track racing game ever.

I see that the Sprint Cars game came out before Dirt Track Racing 2. It was the second in the three-part Dirt Track Racing series (DTR, DTR Sprint Cars, DTR 2). So you would recommend picking up the Sprint Cars one as opposed to DTR 2?

Of course, as cheap as they are nowadays, I could just get both.

Get dtr2. It is awesome and there is a ton of people who still play it online. Our league has been averaging 30 cars a race this season which is the most in our history since we started 6 years ago. If you want it for free there is an iso of it at www.ifrt-dirtracing.com and I think they also have WOO 2002 there. WOO 2002 actually has better graphics even though it was released slightly before dtr2...WOO is a great game if you like sprints but there is very little customization which is the main reason hardly anyone plays it online now. dtr2 there are still new tracks and cars coming out so it has stayed kicking over the years.

                Thanks for the help, guys.

Just one question: Do you all know if the game works with Windows Vista?

I have been playing the snot out of the Ratbag games since I discovered the site linked in this thread, and I owe you cats an apology.

Upon further review, I find Dirt Track Racing: Sprint Cars to be a far superior game on the PC than WoO. DTRSC has better racing AI, better control, more realistic damage and is skinnable with tons of different chassis available. WoO looks better, but that's about it.

DTR 2 and DTRSC are the pinnacle of Ratbag's games. They're not iRacing, but they're damn fun and realistic in their own right and as good as it's going to get for a dirt oval sim.

If anyone wants to play some DTR 2 or DTRSC online on the PC, holler! I'll be happy to host some IP racing.

I am on Vista and it worked fine for me since day 1. Same for everyone else I know that uses it with Vista. If you get it and have troubles let me know

Hey man I'm glad I could help with the link there. Yeah it had about every ratbag game up for download huh? What I am wondering is why all the browser servers have been down in dtr2 the last few days. They will pop up every now and then but that's it. I hope they come back up soon.

I cant seem to find an answer anywhere online for my issue maybe yo uguys an help me out. I just downloaded DTR2, running it on Vista, game runs fine. I have to use arrows tho, I have a MOMO Racing force feedback wheel, I have updated the drivers, calibrated and tested it in windows everything works fine. When I go into inputs in the DTR 2 game it wont recognize the wheel, I can calibrate the pedals and use the pedals, but it acts like the wheel isnt there, I cant calibrate it, set it for the steering or anything. I used to have the original DTR game and used this wheel and pedal setup just fine, so Im not sure what the issue is, but after a week of trying anything I can find online, Im ready to pull hair out lol. Id love to race with you guys online, but no way Id try it with the arrow keys. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Old post...but do you have a controller or something in your USB port? I know when I have both my Momo and my Xbox 360 controller plugged into my PC that it makes it so that my Wheel doesn't work. When I unplug the 360 controller everything starts working fine...hope this helps...visit www.teamvlr.com for more info and ask in that forum, too if you need more help, if you're still around.

                              Re: Dirt Track Racing 2

I apologize for resurrecting an old thread. I just wanted to let you know that there is a solid base still playing Dirt Track Racing 2. I run two different competitions for Dirt Track Racing 2 browser racing. The DTR2 browser is the Gamespy interface used to join multiplayer races. It's built into the game, so no need to download anything else.

One of the competitions is the King of the Browser competition. With King of the Browser, you can score points when you race on my public DTR2 servers. A Dirt Track Racing 2 King of the Browser is declared at the end of each month.

I also have the Quick X competition. For the Quick X, you race against the clock for ten laps. The fastest ten drivers appear on my website and a champion for each track is declared at the end of every month. With the Quick X, you can race against other drivers or run by yourself.

My website at osracing_net has all the information, downloadable setups, addon chassis and tracks, and a ton of other stuff for Dirt Track Racing 2. I'm also available to help anyone get started in the game, or to help old hands who haven't played in a long time. Just go to my site and click the Join Chat link. I'm there very often during the day. You can also register for the site and send me a private message if I'm not around. I'm always glad to welcome new racers and help them get started if I can.
