MLB 10: The Show - The Little Things Thread

Well Show-offs, another year, another 'little things' thread.
Just like on Seinfeld, a lot of these minor things are actually pretty big things, especially to us gamer folk.

Lets kick things off this year with a fun one and a new one.

As coolio83 stated, our own MK Knight gets a shout out at Citi Field with the PA announcer as, 'MK Knight, Fan of the Game from FDNY'.

    !

    OK now, thats cool.
But it begs the question, will other community day members get a shout out?
I dont mind that, as long as its not Pared making a cameo as a streaker @ the new Target Field.
But at least we would know if that can be truly considered a 'little thing'.

    What?

    Let the little things commence!

The thing that wowed me when I played it at Best Buy was fans leaning over the railing to try to scoop up foul balls. It's a small thing, but it adds a lot of realism.

Dustin Pedroia is in this game. That's a little thing.

I saw one at Best Buy actually fall over the railing and get up and run back and hop over real fast

            Situation: Menus

Little Thing: The 3D active background, replacing the static backdrop of years past.

Effect: Its a small thing that livens up the look.
Ok while this is not a standard in game little thing, it bears mentioning until the other OSers find the real gems.

In one of the highlight videos I noticed a vendor behind home plate finding a buyer for his merchandise and tossing an item to a fan.

One little thing sadly left out this year that i liked last year...

The pitcher no longer makes any head movement when the pitch is selected, either to nod to accept the catchers recommendation or shake his head to shake it off.

Not a biggie, i imagine it being left out was an oversight?

I have seen the head nods like last year PsychoBulk. You might have to select 'slower' in the pitch mode.

Robinson Cano hit a blazing line drive single that curved down the line for a hit. A radar graphic came up saying the clock speed of the hit was 100MPH.

being able to have different colors on the player accessories and such, something that i liked about the 2k series that the show never really had, but that has changed, cant wait to make my red glove and red and white cleats (and whatever else i can make red, lol)

Copy/paste from another thread I posted (apologies if some of these are not "little things"):
                        • After you make your player and allocate all your points, you get 300 more points to allocate after the draft/choose team.
                        • Batting practice before a start is pretty cool.
                        • Man on 2nd, 0 outs. I have a goal to drive in the run. I ground to 1st and move the runner to 3rd. 10 pts for postive results. Finally!
                        • Love the new check swing animations where you check and then fall towards the plate.
                        • You can overrun bases if you don't slide.
                        • How well you slide is actually controlled by base running ability. My head first slide with 30 base running is horrific to say the least. Imagine Chien Ming Wang sliding head first. Yeah, that bad.
                        • Fielding fly balls actually requires good fielding.
                        • Reaction time actually does something! It now takes a second or so for it to show you where the ball will land. I assume it will be shorter with better reaction time.
                        • My team was down 2-1 in the 7th with man on 2nd and I actually DIDN'T get a goal to drive in the run. This NEVER happens in 09, where it's an automatic goal to drive in the run. Not sure if this is bad or good yet. Maybe good cause there's less pressure to produce.
                        • The pitcher is no longer invincible! I hit a liner off the shin of the pitcher and was safe on the richochet.

Yep, it's pretty big, thus my caveat. I love trying to hit it through the pitcher as often as I can. I can't really be evil for trying to hit a bunch of pixels, can I?

The atmosphere is incredible, going from exhibition to franchise is a world of difference the audio is insane. If you have a good surround sound system please take advantage of it with the game, the nuance is perfection. You will love the throwing meter, it changes the game.
