    Surprise Teams in 2010

    Rule 1: No homers.
Rule 2: Surprise can be good or bad.

Here is my good surprise team of 2010, I predict for South Florida to win the Big East and finish 11-1, only losing to Florida.

My bad surprise team is Penn State who I predict will go 8-4 with losses to Alabama, Iowa, Michigan, and Ohio State. I also think there is a chance Georgia will go 5-7 with losses to SC, Arkansas, Miss. State, Tennessee, UF, Auburn, GaTech.

I wish I was that optimistic about USF's season. ha

For the bad surprise, I can't see Alabama doing anything close to what they did last year due to losing a majority of their defense and being in the SEC which destroys inexperience (especially on the defensive side of the ball)

As for the good surprise I think it could be any team; college football seems completely wide open this year and I have a feeling a new program will claim its spot at the top. I'm just not sure who.....

Auburn will be near the top of the SEC.

      Michigan will win 8-10 games.

      Illinois goes winless.

      USC wins 7 games.

      OSUWest wins the Pac 10

McElroy underperfoms (i'm being serious) much to the distaste of thousands of Bammer, eventually costing them a game

Get on the UNC bandwagon people. Hopefully LSU nudges them in Week 1, but they're one of the stacked un-stacked teams, if that makes any sense.

Beaves win the Pac 10 (as OSUfan said)

I don't mind if he "underperfoms", just as long as he performs.

Good surprise of 2010- Texas A&M wins 9 or 10 games. The talent level on there roster is finally getting up there and hopefully with a new defensive coordinator the defense will at least marginally improved.

2 out of 4 predicting Alabama for the bad. Glad that we're finally back to where us being less than great is a surprise. For the longest time it was the reverse where people had us being good as the surprise. Anyway...

              Good:
-Arkansas finishes 2nd in the SEC West and wins 10 games.
              -UCLA wins the Pac 10

              Bad:
-LSU fails to get to another New Year's Day Bowl
-TCU wins less than 10 games

Good surprise: Arkansas will win 9 games

Bad surprise: Tennessee will not go to a bowl(maybe not a surprise to most)

                  Good:

Michigan. I can see them winning 9-10 games. Of course losing to OSU though.

                  Texas A&M. Again 9 or 10 games.

                  Oregon State: Rose Bowl bound

Boise St. Not sure if they belong here because really it is no surprise. But they knock off VA tech and go undefeated the rest of the year. 2010 will be the year a non-bcs school plays for the NC.

                  Bad:
USC. I can see them finishing .500 this year.

Oregon. Not as bad as USC but definitely a decline from 2009

Alabama: Not bad as in having a terrible season, but I think they will lose at least 2 games this year.

Cincinnati: Predicting them to go 8-4.

I could see UConn having a really good season and maybe winning the Big East. They return a lot of starters from their 8-5 team last year that lost five games by a combined 15 points and some publications have them ranked in the preseason top 25. And they're fresh off a dominating performance over South Carolina. Also, Randy Edsall always seems to get the most out of his players and also is really good out of finding diamonds in the rough despite seemingly subpar recruiting classes, as evidenced by UConn's NFL Draftees over the last few years.

How can Alabama be a good surprise? I think most still think they are National Title Contenders...especially with a good majority of their offense still intact.

Conversely, how can Texas Tech be surprisingly bad? I would say a lot of people would think that TT is going to hell without a good coach...just saying.

Otherwise, I agree a lot with your post.
