Re: Season vs franchise
There is an offseason during season mode, season mode is not just one season long. Season mode is multiple seasons just like franchise... I'm guessing the 2014 FA issue will happen in season mode alsoComment

Re: Season vs franchise
The real difference is that Season mode is concentrated on two thing...the baseball, and your major league roster.
Budgets go up and down based on how well you did, and you can still make all the normal trades and normal "franchise moves" You just don't have to deal with actual lineups on your AA squad, the price of peanuts, and giving out bobbleheads.
I wouldn't say season mode is the lesser of the two modes, it's just about what you want to concentrate on--either playing with your major league team or managing the entire franchise....Comment

Re: Season vs franchise
hmmmmm, I"m wondering then if I'm turning franchise mode into season mode. I basically put everything on Auto other than trades, rosters, lineup/rotation, free agents, etc. I basically let the CPU handle the banking, facilities, rehab, and all the stuff that isn't directly related to handleing the roster itself and playing the game on the field. You do what you want in your association, don't let others ruin the fun. Just because other people say it's cheap doesn't mean you have to let it affect your association, just have fun - Evan_OSComment

Re: Season vs franchise
This is interesting, I've never played season mode before. I've always done franchise and honestly I find all the stuff you have to do in franchise an annoyance. Will your minor league players still develop if you do season mode? The real difference is that Season mode is concentrated on two thing...the baseball, and your major league roster.

Re: Season vs franchise
N/mind, I wouldn't like it. I just tried it and you only have a 40 man roster to work with. I like having 90 players at my disposal in case injuries occur.Comment

AWWWWWW! That would kill it for me too bravesfan. I don't really care about all the stuff in franchise with banking, and buying transportation, etc etc. I care about building my minor league and major league roster, and playing games. You do what you want in your association, don't let others ruin the fun. Re: Season vs franchise
can yall help me decide what to do. Im doing a mini 29 game "season" right now just while I wait on rosters. I want to do a full length season. But should I do franchise or just season? I dont want it to be difficult and have to deal with contracts and stuff constantly and worry about losing a guy during the year or anything like that.Drew Stubbs is fastComment

Re: Season vs franchise
Yeah that's how I am, I don't like playing the minor league games but I like keeping an eye on upcoming prospects and seeing how they develop. In other words I like building my team through the draft and making trades here and there to fill in the gaps. With payroll restrictions I have this year I like the idea of knowing I can't have a team full of All Stars and I'm going to have to use my minor league system if I'm to remain competitive.
And honestly my minor league system isn't that good right now, since I don't have Knight's rosters and I'm too impatient to wait on them I'm going to have to get to work to build it up.Comment

Re: Season vs franchise
Tried a variety of ways to make season mode work for cause I hate to be bothered with franchise stuff.
I decided Ill start a season with 30 teams to manually control injuries, then when I went to call up players to be on the major league roster, they didnt and wouldnt appear cause they were in the minor leagues.
I started over and used franchise mode to tweak the teams to my liking.
I baciscally let the cpu take care of everything except trades, injuries. We play today, we win today, das it!-

Re: Season vs franchise
I dig doing Season mode, as I only get to play a few games per week.
If you have injuries, you can make trades, bring up your "I" players or fish the free agency market. Just not as many below average players to choose from, that's all.
You also get a draft, so you can fill in gaps that way too.
The only thing I really miss from Franchise is the Player Morale/Fan Support stuff. And where your attendance matters.Comment
