2012 equipment...after video

RynoAid has the game and was kind enough to do a 6 minute video of equipment. It has since been added to this thread. I will make a small list of what I saw.

New:

ION 4d helmet with 5 facemasks
Schutt XP
Revo Speed with 3 bar rb facemask, rb robot, and the tebow
Revolution 3 bar linebacker
Adidas cleats

Still in game:

"Standard" helmet with enormous bulge
3 facemasks that don't exist
3 variants of the LT facemask
HORRIBLE 3 bar rb
Neck roll that looks like a hunch back

Not in game:

Revo speed 2 bar qb
Various neck roll options such as cowboy collar and the Douglas collar
More cleats

So after all this hype about new equipment in the game EA added 2 helmets, the Schutt air and the ION 4d, and about 7 facemasks. They also added 2 pairs of adidas cleats. They refused to even touch facemasks for normal style helmets as well as the DNA masks...they are missing 2 of the most popular worn DNA masks. I will say that I am happy with some of the additions but overall disappointed with the lack of "popular" facemasks that are worn today. Also they need to upgrade cleats yearly not just do it once and figure we will be happy with it.

good to know! I seriously don't get why they just don't delete the LT facemasks and the other ones that don't exist/nobody wears. this has been like that for years and it's beyond silly at this point. Madden is always on top of the latest equipment.

The biggest surprise to me is that the Revo speed 2 bar qb didn't make it into the game, but oh well, always next year.

Yes that is one of the DNA masks that is continuously overlooked. There really is no excuse for it. Half of the PSU players wear it and you can bet a lot of Michigan guys will too. I really wish I could sit down with the equipment guys at EA and say this mask needs to be in or take this one out. They know what equipment players are wearing it is obvious by the stuff they add. I just wonder why they seem to not put in certain things.

I'm very disappointed in the lack of gear thats not nike. Sometimes this even keeps me from doing a dynasty with a team that does not have a nike sponsorship. what I mean is I think EA needs to add Adidas Visors as well as Adidas and Under Armour Gloves. I dont see why they dont they obviously have the license to use UA and Adidas because they have Cleats by them but it would be really cool to see more equipment options for UA and Adidas.

Another thought that I have had since they started having brand visors is to be able to have a set all function for your dynasty. Every team wears the same type of Visor in game and it gets annoying when you are playing as a Adidas team and they give guys nike visors and I have to go in and change them all to oakley. Another thing this could be used for is for Nike teams that wear Oakley Visors. I know my Cal Bears are sponsored by Nike for Uniforms and such but have a Deal with Oakley for Visors same with I believe Clemson and USC used to do this.

Disappointed that EA continues to be well behind when it comes to equipment. The revolution speed QB 1 bar style and 2 bar style should both be in the game.

Also surprised that they haven't brought back mouth guards that were in the game 2 or 3yrs ago.

What I think the developers should do is create a downloadable patch for equipment updates after the release of the game. Get rid of helmets and facemasks that aren't used or have never been worn.

Sounds like we won't see most of the equipment worn in the game today added until next years version or after.

they need to dump the "standard" riddell vsr4. nobody wears that helmet anymore, especially after they've been deemed unsafe in relation to the schutt ions, dnas & revos.

and every school's socks should be defaulted to mid, with the switch to long socks for cold weather games.

one more thing- it would be cool if the game had an interface where you could choose team equipment/gear or it was defaulted. for instance, penn state would wear dna helmets, nike visors, nike gloves and nike cleats. but if u don't like the dna's, you can change your helmets w/o going through each player.

Overall, I am happy with the additions. Hopefully next year they will get the majority of the missing Equipment.

I don't get how they add the least popular equipment. Every year it seems that they leave out the most popular mask, but add a mask like the LDT mask that he doesn't even wear anymore. It's a small issue, but mind boggling none the less. It's like they try to get under pro equipment guys skin just for the hell of it.

Why did they remove all the neck pads?

Madden's equipment will trump NCAA's new/updated equipment.
