Anyone else going generated names this year?

Since the rosters will not import in to Madden I'm thinking I might just play with generated names this year. I'll go through and add a few real guys in there but why wait a week or so after release to start your Dynasty. Most of the star players are gone by year three anyway.

Anyone else just using generated names in NCAA 13?

I will until named rosters come out. I am getting the game friday, so I actually may have to wait close to a week for names, but that gives me a week to get settled in to scouting, recruiting, and fixing my personal slider set.

Nope, gotta wait for rosters, especially since the gators have abunch of good young players that'll be around 3-4 seasons. Ill probably play some RTG & my OD or something until they come out.

I may start my rebuild dynasty with generated names, as I will be a one star team OC in a crappy conference with noone I really care about but for my main (stay at USF) dynasty, I will probably wait for real names.

Nope, never. I follow college football way too much to not have random names annoy me. Something about seeing #7 James McQueen at QB for USC just drives me crazy.

With Studio Updates in the game, real names will mean that much more than in past years. Each time I see "Brad Miller", or whatever random name they give him, as the QB for KSU in my first season will just make me sad.

I agree BA. The studio updates really add another level of realism and that will just be amplified by having the real platers inputted. I understand doing generated names for the first few days but we (and other editors) should be done within a week or shorter. Being that they're free, might as well just get the real names.

I'll probably do what I usually do...play a few one-off games and then start a single-season dynasty to get a feel for off-field changes before I get into my full one. For the single-season, I usually end up going with generated names just to get into it. Once that's done, rosters should easily be out. If they're out before I start my test one, I'll use those for that, too.

Re: Anyone else going generated names this year?

The one year I did generated names, was the most fun I ever had with NCAA in this current gen. Maybe it was because I used a team I had no familiarity with (Western Michigan) so I had no beliefs about who should be a stud and who shouldn't be. I think I would have a more difficult time using generic names with Rutgers.

Re: Anyone else going generated names this year?

Import has zero impact for me on naming. Importing was a broken feature.

I use named rosters because it adds a level of immersion for the first couple of years before I really have much of an impact on team building. Hopefully EA actually fixed the depth chart and roster bugs from years prior.

nope, real all the way, I can't do fake. As CParrish said, knowing so much about college football it would be annoying seeing some random name instead of who its supposed to be. I am however doing a for fun test dynasty before rosters are released and have already done some of the teams in team builder. I'm only doing my conference and will just import them over their team and have them named (USC over USC, Oregon over Oregon etc).

Re: Anyone else going generated names this year?

I'm a bit torn to be honest. I use all my sports games in whatever report I'm working on. Since I'm doing one from an RTG standpoint (not actually using RTG mode though), the lack of unity sets up a lot of work - maneuvering.

Since Madden 13 won't have draft classes - it's like NCAA is completely separate for once, and whatever I do in NCAA 13; won't make a lick of a difference in Madden. Ah - sucks.

IF I just play NCAA 13, I'll wait for named rosters. It will make me want to play my dynasty long after my "RTG" player is (hopefully) in the NFL.

I made 12 Canadian teams so I'll slap them into dynasty and play with them (plus generated names) until the good rosters come out.

I can't see any real fan of college football using generated names and not seeing the point of waiting for the real names.
