Can a Mid-Major conference become a Power conference over time?

Is this possible at all? For a small conference to become a mid-major and a mid-major to become a power? By that same logic.. would conferences be able to go down in power as well?

I don't think it's possible, but I'm not 100%.

I mean I've never seen it and think they're pretty much locked in to the default settings, but I haven't paid much attention to the small conferences and it wouldn't shock me to see a small conference become a mid major.

I don't think so, though oftentimes the A-10, for example, becomes a de factor power conference even if they're not technically considered one in the game.
