How should NCAA14 rate Penn State?

Should PSU be a 4 or 5 star prestige team OR a 2 or 3 star prestige team? In a way, Im thinking a 3 star team would be realistic and fun. This way users can rebuild the program.

I dont think PSU will take a prestige hit. They are still a big school with a great history other than this one recent set back. Also, It was a crime committed by a small group of individuals who are pretty much all out of the PSU system at this point. To some extent, the sense of pride of being a PSU fan has heightened as people come together from all parts of the US to help support ending child abuse and rebuilding the Universitys great history.

I live in Central Pa, less than an hour from from the PSU campus. This is what I have seen in the areas so close to the University, but the resiliance of the students, the student athletes, and the fans is really great to see. Honestly, its not like the university is in shambles, and I honestly think the love displayed for the university by the people near it saved the university from oblivion.

Also, lets not turn this into a flame thread where people start blaming other people for what happened. Not saying it will, but PSU topics on the internet tend to veer in that direction a lot!

According to Rivals, they had the #43 ranked recruiting class.
If they do the same or worse in recruiting next February and have a losing year in 2013, then for NCAA 15 I'd drop 'em to a three, but this year I'd make 'em a 4 star. JMO.

I think 4 star is right for them. They are still doing a good job recruiting, they have name recognition, and I still think they will get a good crowd out to the games. Talent wise, they will be down this year but I think 4 star prestige is about right for where they are at and how they have been recruiting.

Just drop down school prestige in recruiting a little bit and that would be fine. People still want to play football for PSU, just not as many as before.

They just came off of a 8-4 season. That's not nearly bad enough to drop them.

Texas went 5-7 and stayed 6*, and it took ND several years of mediocrity to drop from 6 to 5*.

I'd say if you're playing dynasty, edit some of their players so A) they don't go to a big bowl and B) don't become great until after their probation

They should be 5. Operating under the probation last year losing as many starters as they did..and still going 8-4, is beyond impressive. They are my team, but that doesn't negate the fact that they will still be competitive in the B1G for years to come. Their recruiting efforts are astonishing with not being able to play in a bowl game. Whoever was saying the talent level is down just hasn't seen the players yet. Just because they lost starters doesnt mean there aren't people to take over.

^^^ agree, they should be rated at least a 4* prestige. If Sam could kick the Ficken ball through the Ficken uprights they would have been 10-2. BOB is a good coach and will do well there. I've said all along that it's on the fans to keep PSU strong. If they can keep 100k plus in Beaver Stadium weekly, they will be back in no time. I hope Hackenberg and the other recruits they have coming in make an immediate impact.

Penn State in 2012 did indeed go 8-4. However they didn't beat a single ranked opponent and in fact lost to every ranked team they played. Last year is the best they will be for quite some time. Their entire starting defense came back from 2011 sans one player and most of those players are all gone.

Operating with a roster 0f 65 players, rather than 85 will be brutal on them. The only thing that will help them is the fact that they play an unbelievably weak schedule, so they COULD have another respectable record come the end of the year.

Things will get a whole lot tougher for PSU moving forward before it gets better.

All schools on probation should be 1 star schools. They cheated/screwed up somehow and it should be reflected in the game.

They landed the top QB in the nation, had a Top 50 recruiting class, and can still pack 100k+ to every home game. They also beat #17 Northwestern, and were competitive in all 4 of their losses.

I would say they outplayed us in all aspects except special teams. Several missed FGs and a blocked PAT were huge in our victory against them.
