NHL 14 Cover Athlete Voting Down to Final Four

EA SPORTS NHL 14 Cover Vote Hits Semifinals

Pavel Datsyuk vs. Martin Brodeur; John Tavares vs. Sergei Bobrovsky

EA SPORTS™, the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA®) and the National Hockey League (NHL®) announced today the semifinal matchups in the next round of the EA SPORTS NHL®14 Cover Vote. Voting for this round is now live and fans can vote an unlimited number of times at NHL.com/CoverVote. The round closes on May 26 at 11:59pm ET. The winner of the cover vote campaign will be revealed as the NHL 14 Cover Athlete during the 2013 Stanley Cup® Final.

NHL® 14 Cover Vote Quarterfinals Recap

The Quarterfinal matchups were very tight as each matchup came down to the wire:
    • Datsyuk vs. Lupul: Pavel Datsyuk narrowly defeated his opponent in the last round, sneaking by Joffrey Lupul in what was the tightest matchup of the round.
    • Brodeur vs. van Riemsdyk: James van Riemsdyk made things interesting for Martin Brodeur as they battled for a spot in the semifinals. Ultimately, Brodeur’s increased social media activity powered him through.
    • Tavares vs. Simmonds: The Philadelphia Flyers saw their hopes of back-to-back covers dashed as John Tavares rallied on the final day to eliminate Wayne Simmonds from contention.
    • Bobrovsky vs. Hall: Blue Jackets Sergei Bobrovsky continues to make waves in the cover vote. Bobrovsky defeated Taylor Hall to secure his spot.

    Twitter Vote Thursdays

This year fans can double their voting power by using these player specific hashtags on “Twitter Vote Thursdays.” Each player specific hashtag used on Twitter on Thursdays will be counted as two official votes. Fans can join the conversation about the cover vote every day by using #NHL14CoverVote on Twitter and Instagram.

NHL 14 will be available for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. NHL 14 releases on Sept. 10, 2013, in North America and Sept. 13, 2013 worldwide.

Would love to see Brodeur and Bobrovsky as the final two. Nice goalie matchup.

I feel Bobrovsky vs. Datsyuk should be the final matchup. Whereas it'd be cool to see a goalie who really deserves it win, Datsyuk I think should win it especially because of their deke system they are updating! It'd be a perfect fit!!

Should be Dats and Bob in the finals. I'd like to see Dats win as a wings fan but Bob probably deserves it.

Pretty sure EA is going to have Tavares on the cover.
If Bobrovsky wins this, then I will believe the vote is legit and not rigged like the Ukraine elections.

I'd like to see Dats, but I'm totally not biased or anything. :P

                          Why does he need respect?
