    2K14 arenas vs Real arenas

Hi guys, i make a few screenshots of some arenas of NBA 2K14 (for PS4) with the the purpose of comparison with the real arenas.
In the pics you can notice that 2k need to improve a lot in:

    -the lighting,
    - colors of the courts
    - amount of people in the stands
    - amount of people behind the baskets (mean photogrphers, camera mens and towel guys)
    - angle of the cameras

I agree, although the lighting is better then current gen, its almost over done in next gen, there seems to be a foggy/smokey look to the court if you play at a zoomed out broadcast angle like I do.

And the colors of the hardwood have always been an issue in 2k games, they never seem to have the dark floors dark enough like the Celtics floor for example is so bright you can hardly see the floor pattern.

MSG is not updated in next gen. They still have the old jumbo-tron and the other renovations they had done.

When I first popped in the game I was shocked when I first saw how crappy the courts looked. Espcially coming from the modded PC version. That's actually one thing NBA Live does have right are the courts and presentation.

Yea I have to agree from the videos I seen on Live their courts are very good and close to real life, 2k seems to just do what they want when it comes to court colors and lighting, I call b.s. on them saying they took the lighting temperature from every arena, if they did then its hard to tell.

Brooklyn has yet to be done correctly. The lighting is that of the MSG and Staples Center (Lakers), yet the arena is well lit, as well as the hardwood color being way off. I don't have 14 for 360, so I can't speak on that game but I thought the floor was somewhat better in 13.

Also, the Clippers shouldn't have the Lakers lighting. I believe I saw them with said lighting in someone's video, but the Staples Center for the Clippers is definitely lights on. Lets not start giving them that superstar treatment now.

This is what I was trying to say, Next gen courts look off from TV broadcasts, like MSG isn't right.

Portland looks like they have a weird hue problem on their court.

Three of the courts shown in those photos are from last season because they have since been changed; Denver, Indiana and the Clippers.

That said, 2K is way off on the Pelicans court color wise and in addition to the three aforementioned courts, the Knicks court needs an update; they changed the paint out of bounds. The Barclays center and Celtics court also could seriously use an update to the parquet texture, which is way off in both.

                    Maybe there's a legitimate reason.

Lighting affects everything simultaneously, just like in real life. The lighting to players are many folds better, and more realistic in next gen 2K. It no longer looks artificially cartoony compared to current gen 2K.

Maybe the focus was on players to be the focal point when next gen lighting was established. Maybe the focus was to actually get players' lighting to look human, lifelike, realistic. Even if you look at MLB the Show, players have realistic lighting and the environment around the ball park are on the washed out side of things. Even in Gran Turismo, the same thing happens; lighting on cars are realistic while the environment has a washed out look to it.

In other words, have you given to the thought that if 2K primarily focuses on court lighting first, the player's lighting would be affected and look unrealistic and artificial.

^^^2K has been off on court colors, dimensions and etc. for years. If you have a reference photo for a court, you make the court in the game look like what you see in the photo; I don't understand why that has been a persistent challenge. Colors have always been an issue, as have court details such as proper placement/sizing of elements. Why is it that their competitor has pretty much always nailed these details if nothing else, and they cannot? Real arena lighting is not the reason.

I'd just like the reflections on the court toned down. Players aren't too bad, but the reflection of the LED banners is just so bright.

Do you get that green / red hue shift on the floor that constantly changes if you go from left to right on the court?

Not to mention Portland's arena is still incorrectly labeled the Rose Garden when it's now the Moda Center. It's also now missing the Moda graphics on the floor etc.

Agree 110%. The lights/scoreboard reflections on the court are waaay overdone. And like you said, it almost gives the floor a hazy/washed out look to it.
