NAIA College Hoops 2K? Why not?

Hi guys.

Been a while since I posted on OS.

I've been thinking, since the NCAA is being jerks, why can't EA or 2K create an NAIA basketball game?

It would probably be pretty cheap to get that license and make it.

I know it's not what a lot of you want but jeez man, at least it's college basketball!

I have a ton of respect for the NAIA and the talent that's there. I almost committed to an NAIA school which was an awesome campus but decided to go to broadcasting school instead because of my career choice.

I still root for that NAIA school when they play. I think NAIA is not only a great brand of college basketball but a great brand of college sports period.

It would be very refreshing, even it's not your alma ater.

I know it's a loooong shot, but it doesn't hurt to throw the idea out there. Would it generate a ton of sales? Not sure, but if it's a game that plays anything like NBA 2K then that's where I think it shines.

It's like with what I hear with golf gamers all the time, they don't care if there are licensed golf courses in the game or not.

So just because the school aren't Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, Illinois, etc doesn't meant it can't be a great college hoops game.

Just my thought.

That's cool that you played. I really do enjoy the NAIA game whether it's buckets, football, baseball or even golf, I think the NAIA is under rated and there's some great schools in this association.

Yup, it would be tough. Too bad we don't run 2k or EA. Or if I had a ton of money I'd pay them to do it lol. Money talks after all.

That's simply because the NAIA doesn't get the attention the NCAA does. If NAIA games were on TV then people would most definitely buy it.

Except that's not the case at all. NCAA Basketball is on every channel and it didn't sell for ****.

Yeah well then how come everyone wants the game back soooo bad? People were making mods for it for God's sake so it must have some kind of appeal.

It has a big appeal among a certain small subset of fans like you and I, but it does not have broad appeal.

It's unfortunate, but true. It wouldn't sell enough.

But I would definitely buy it if it did come out.

It would if it was made customizable where third parties could create courts etc and logos teams conferences could all be customized

No it wouldn't. We had a football game that did this sort of thing and it didn't sell.

I want to say that the NCAA game would sell. But it would not sell ENOUGH to overcome development cost, plus licensing, and especially now the legal firestorm that now comes with it. The financial model has been broken folks. College sports gaming is dead. We can thank the "players" and the NCAA for forcing the players hands for that.

The only way you change this is that if the SA agreed to allow the NCAA to use their likenesses with some compensation of course. But then the concept of amateurism would be challenged and that scares the living **** out of the NCAA.

NAIA, however, wouldn't sell at all. You may have a love for it, but there is a reason you don't see it on TV.

I am all for this. I feel like they should just give us the basics--improved gameplay, crowds, commentary, recruiting-- and then let the community create everything. Let the community make the real NCAA schools, the players, the jerseys, the home crowd, etc.

I know it seems like you can do this with 2K, but 2K last legacy mode which is the biggest reason why I play college hoops.

i wonder if all of the people who would like a college game could make a petition or each pay $5+ so it could cover part of the cost for someone to make the game. There could be real colleges, but all of the players are different then in real life so all the company would have to do is buy rights to teams and tournaments and stuff like that. what do use guys think?
