Coaching Legacy of Allen Finch (CH2K8)

    Cornell Banner.jpg

This is my first time doing a legacy and I am very new on making legacies so if you have anything that might help please share I would greatly appreciate it. But enough of that this is about a legacy. Coach Finch will be the coach of Cornell and I will be using rosters from the 2014-15 college basketball season. I will not play any games but will coach them. Expect 2-3 updates per week for now.

    Backstory

Allen Finch grew up in a small town near Buffalo and was An OK basketball player and was good enough to start his senior year in high school where his dad was the head coach. His dream from as long as he could remember was becoming a basketball coach and eventually become a coach at Duke University because it was his favorite college basketball team. Because of this dream he decided to not use his degree from Pitt-Bradford and became a coach and his first job was a middle school coach at a local school. He excelled in his only year there and was hired by his father to be the Junior Varsity coach at his old High School and retained that position for 4 years. He then took the head coaching job off of his father when he retired and took a team that was 8-14 the year before and made them into a 13-9 team that made the playoffs. Then he helped them steadily improve over each of the next 3 years and won a State Championship his last season there. After 4 years being a head coach at the high school level Allen Finch decided that he wanted to make the leap into college coaching and took the head job at Cornell.

Nolan Cressler will likely be my go to guy. I am also at a serious lack of hieght. This may be a tough year with Miller only being 6'9.

Thanks for the compliment. I really liked my time at Cornell. The Ivy can be fun and challenging because there is no conference tourney, so winning your conference games become very important.

If I remember right, Miller was actually pretty dominating in the post even though doesn't have a ton of height.

Cornell downs Lehigh in Coach Finch's first game

In Coach Finch's first game as the coach of Cornell he comes out victorious against Lehigh. It was a low scoring affair mostly because both teams were sloppy in thier first games of the season. Cressler led the way in scoring with 10 point and hit a crucial and one to seal the game. Miller was also very strong with 9 points and 6 rebounds. Cherry also showed off his unselfishness with a game high 6 assists.

Lehigh was carried mostly by Senior PG Makey Mcknight who had 14 points. Lehigh also struggled to hit the long ball. (they shot .278)

Overall this game was a sign that the Big red need to be more smart about how they play.

A 6'9" center isn't bad for a small conference team at all, IMO.

              Good luck!

I was curious after seeing your low score on how many minutes you were playing. 14 is what I like. Some guy's play a full 20 minute halves, but with my style of offense I feel like 14 is just perfect. It means my starters tend to play around 10 mins each half and my bench plays about 4.

Cornell Storms back in the second half but Comes up short to Ohio

The Big Red were looking to go 2-0 to start the season but were denied by the Ohio Bobcats. Senior Power Foward Dwight Tarwater led the Big red in scoring with 15 points. He also chipped in 5 rebounds. Miller also was a big contributor on the boards with 10 rebounds and also had 6 assists. Cressler was rather shacky even though he was second in scoring in the game. He struggled outside the 3 point line going 1-9. On a positive note he was 4-7 from inside the line.

The Bobcats were led in scoring by N. Kellog and S.Taylor had 6 points 8 assists, but the R. Johnson controled the game by putting Cornell in a hole with 3 first half threes. Ohio outscoured Cornell's bench by 17 points.

                        Cornell DESTROYS Army

Cornell stays undefeated at home with a huge 87-62 win. After starting slow against Ohio, Cornell had a productive first half offensively but did not show poise on defense. On the otherhand Cornell had 50 points in the second half to erase any doubt that they were the better team on the court.

The Big Red were led in points by yes you guessed it Nolan Cressler. He put up a season high 25 points to go along with 2 assists and a steal. S.Miller had Cornell's first double double of the season finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Cherry Also put up his first double digit assist game of the year and had 2 assists that happened to come on back to back plays early in the 2nd.

Army fought hard in the first half but seemed to give up when So Guard Kyle Wilson stoped scoring (he had 16 of his 21 in the first 10 minutes). The Black Knights tried to shoot themselves out of a deficit but couldn't and ended the game 8-29 from three point land.

Nice game by Cressler and the Mad Hatter on the outside and Miller on the inside. Hopefully they can feed off the last game and continue to get your more W's.

Good luck landing Dobbins. As a veteran of this game my main recruiting pointer would be to look for guy's who don't currently have offers. You should be able to find a couple 3*. Don't go after 2* unless they are rated, look for Mr BB's from smaller states even if they are 2* they will come in more highly rated.

Also once a school jumps ahead of you and is offering a scholarship, don't waste your points, cut your loss's and move on.

                              The Big Red beat Siena

Cornell Added onto their home win streak this year with a win over Siena. The team was led in scoring by Cressler AGAIN with 19 he aldo added 3 rebounds. S. Miller had his second consecutive double double with 18 points 10 rebounds. Hatter was looking to have another huge game after having 24 points the previous game only to have only 3 points. The Big Red had a fairly consistant game scoring nearly the same in each half.

Siena had 3 double digit scorers and one player had 20, and another had 10 assists but that was not enough to overcome Cornell's press this game (They turned the ball over 6 more times).
