I still think Oregon St would've won a playoff in 2000. They were playing the best football at the end of that season

Yes, I remember them annihilating Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl. With that performance they would have likely done well against Oklahoma. Remember the 13-2 win against FSU. Weinke and Warrick couldn't have looked any worse.

Warrick didn't play for them in that game.

On Jim Carroll Stadium it was happened? How talking in http://livesports.one/ The 2001 NAIA Football Championship Series concluded on December 15, 2001 with the championship game played at Jim Carroll Stadium in Savannah, Tennessee. The game was won by the Georgetown Tigers over the Sioux Falls Cougars by a score of 49–27.

Sorry. That was the 1998 National Championship against Tennessee where Warrick looked bad. Marcus Outzen (the rooster) was in for Weinke.

He didn't really "look bad". He was double covered for most of the game and UT schemed to blanket him the entire game. He didn't get any help from Outzen.

The real woulda/coulda/shoulda from 1998 was UCLA. They likely beat Miami who started 3-2 if that game is played in September as scheduled but Miami was playing much better at the end when they made it up.

And then Arizona fans would not have to continue ruing their lack of a Rose Bowl because they'd have gone that year.

Or undefeated K-State led by Michael Bishop, until the choked against A&M at the Big XII title game held in St Louis.

As for Warrick looking bad, I was at that game and no, as Seasprite said, UT doubled him most of the game and our QB situation was lacking. Funny how that 3 year stretch went. Everyone was hating Richt during the Fiesta Bowl, loving him for the Sugar Bowl over VT, then back to hating him and saying good riddance against OU in the Orange Bowl.

I was there too One of my favorite football memories. That was also the first game without Cutty and Randy Sanders was calling the plays.

Yeah was a great time. Partied before and after the game with plenty of Vol fans, all great people. Of course it helped that we had a mutual hatred of all things UF. Still remember at the "World's Largest Outdoor Fiesta" sponsored by Tostitos, the big sign a couple people were carrying around that said #1 Tennessee vs #2 Florida State, Hey Spurrier, enjoy the game.

If Eastern Michigan had lost 11 fewer games last year , they woulda coulda shoulda .
                        But seriously , 2004 USC-auburn , a 2006 Ohio State-Michigan rematch and of course 2013 FSU-Bama (damn you Chris Davis !)
are three that I would most liked to have taken place .

Then you have the two 13-9 rivalry upsets against vastly inferior foes in the final week of the season for USC (2006) and WVU (2007), which knocked both out of the title game.

The 2008 USC team was the deepest and most talented team of the Pete Carroll era. Dumb loss in Corvallis but if there was a playoff that team beats anyone that year.

Even over what was basically the 2001 Miami team, maybe a tad better?
