    Franchise Draft Prospect Edits

What edits do you guys make to drafted prospects to make them fit with the rosters better? Looking for global edits, as in average # of players who should be at x potential or overall, etc.

    Thank you guys!

From my roster thread, should work with SCEA default rosters as well:

I will be doing the following:
-If RP/CP is selected in rounds 1-3, I will convert them to SPs.
-For the top 10 picks, if the player is 21 or older, OVR = potential - 20
-For the top 10 picks, if the player is under 21, OVR = potential - 30

For the first 2 rounds, I will try to make sure players project to fit into the following archetypes:
    -Power hitter
    -Contact hitter
    -Balanced/All-Around hitter
    -5 tool player (top picks)
    -Strikeout pitcher
    -Control pitcher
    -Groundball pitcher
    -Balanced pitcher

So you think the potentials are fine and the overalls are the only thing screwed up?

How often do you end up seeing players in their mid-20s get to the high 80s or 90s?

Tonight I simmed to 2030 and noticed there were virtually no young all-star-caliber players outside of a couple on my team and a few real players (seems like CPU drafted players don't progress much at all).

The big one for me is unless they are an established Major Leaguer no Potentials over 95. If they are truly a 99 they will develop into one, but that's just me

This seems new for 2018 as I recall my test sims in 2017 resulting is some prospects becoming all-star caliber players within 2-3 years.

I guess the only way around it is to take the guys you think are legit MLB players and edit their ratings manually.

Something we noticed when testing our hybrid roster before release is progression doesn't really kick in until guys reach the MLB level. If top prospects stay down in the minors, they just don't progress fast at all. However, promoting them to the majors, for whatever reason, seems to quicken the rate significantly.

I had one test where Austin Riley was stuck in the 60's OVR after year 2, then I promoted him to MLB and his rating jumped almost 20 points after year 3.

This is true, and it frustrated me to the point where I have begun a massive over haul of every team's minor league system for myself, so that I can have the in depth franchise that I want. I am HUGE on prospects, and the development aspect of baseball, so this was my only option to get something close to realism.

To date, I have finished the NL East and the Chicago Cubs.

                  What I'm doing..

                  - Re-rating every minor leaguer in the game based on 2018 production.
                  - Editing potentials based on production/age/draft slots
                  - Creating every teams Top 30 prospects based on MLB.com

                  Example.

Austin Dean is a 58 OV at 24 years old in Ridin's OSFM draft roster. These roster don't take into consideration that a 4th round pick from 2012 has developed in the minors, and will be ready to compete for a starting OF position in 2019.

Dean is batting .342 in 71 games for the Miami Marlins AA/AAA, after batting .291 last season at 23 years old.

I have adjusted his overall from a 58 to a 69, and made his potential a B, as he has obviously become a great contact hitter. And should develop into a potential starting OF now in 2019. At the current rating he had, and potential, he would have never had a chance in the game.

                  Back to creating prospects...

There's no more creation slots left, so what I have been doing is changing guys who are basically career minor leaguers (over 25 y/o) and editing them into the teams missing prospects from the OSFM draft roster version.

Also, I added the 2nd and 3rd round picks from the 2018 draft to the roster, so it's basically each teams Top 33 prospects, or in some cases, 34-35 based on additional 2nd and 3rd round picks.

The relief pitchers got the most love in the minor leagues, because there were are a lot of guys who were 24/25 and on the cusp of becoming full-time MLB relief pitchers, but rated in the 50's. Which would have done nothing more than made them an after thought.

Sorry if this was disorganized and long winded.

If you want to check it out so far, just download "Bushido Roster". Would love feedback.

                  P.S.

There's one unrealistic aspect in this roster. I stashed Mark Appel and Michael Ynoa on the Nationals for now. I plan on doing a comeback story, for my own amusement, of two pitchers who were considered can't miss prospects at one point, and attempting to get their careers back on the track. I just needed somewhere to put them for the time being.

Too bad the CPU will leave their 22 year old A prospect in the minors because they have a 28 year old C player a few points better ahead of him. Or, better yet, the prospect will be the better player but they will refuse to add him to the 40 man roster to bring him up
