    The Alaska Warriors Reboot

    ALASKA

I previously did a dynasty that I quit about four months ago in April. I began to feel as if it was missing something. I wanted to start a new dynasty with the Alaska Warriors that would be more of a challenge. I was inspired by BlackjackXXI's Festivus College dynasty on YouTube where he created a college whose roster was extremely handicapped. He imposed a max of 75 for any skill on his players and imposed restrictions on recruiting, transferring players, and other aspects of the game.

So, I decided to do something similar. I went through and edited my team and have come up with some house rules of my own. I really would like this dynasty to be very detail oriented and stats based, so I'll try my best to make it entertaining for everyone.

I also decided to use VTCRB's rosters. They were created using the editor to make each team random. I've looked through some of them and I've liked what I've seen. None of the players on these rosters nor any of the coaches are real. This allows for a truly unique feeling for the dynasty.

    Settings

*Changed some sliders around year 10. They will be around page 20.

    Custom House Rules

    1. Recruiting realistically: Only allowed to recruit 1 stars with a couple of 2 stars at first.

    2. Over-recruiting: My team is currently made up of juniors or lower. I will only recruit a few the first year, and will only recruit for what I need.

    3. Pipelines: Until I've established myself, I must prioritize pipelines heavily. If I have no interested players available, I can search other states but they must be football-producing states (like Florida, or regionally close states such as Oregon).

    4. Interest: I can recruit any 1 star within my pipeline, but to recruit a 2 star I must be number one on their list the first year. Afterwards, I will become more lenient on the amount of 2-stars I recruit.

    5. Scouting: I can scout no more than 25% of a player's ratings. This allows me to have a realistic look at recruits. Coaches can see some skills players possess, but don't get nearly a full view of who they've recruited until that recruit gets on campus.

    6. Custom Playbooks: I will use custom playbooks. Audibles/diversity of plays will be dependent upon the player's experience and awareness.

    7. Injuries, discipline, etc: I'm working on a method to include injuries and discipline in to my dynasty. I've used a random number generator method for injuries that seemed to work decently well, and I think using awareness to determine discipline would work. This will be a work in progress.

    8. Play realistically.

    9. Close eyes for field goals.

    10. For the first few years I'll remake the coach if he gets fired. New program, nobody should be fired at first. I will not take other jobs, and if necessary, I will fire my coordinators.

If I think of others I will include them here.

    Team Record Book:

    Custom Conferences:

I edited some conferences to put teams in the right place, and I moved some teams around to make sure every conference plays a championship game that is possible. Conferences that stay the same are staying the same as in real life.

Today went about as you would expect for a new program. Hawaii (83-86-82) had a great, balanced attack. Quarterback Bryan Cook threw for 255 yards and a touchdown, while 90 overall Vince Brant rushed for 183 yards. Hawaii DB Ray Pitts had three interceptions in plus territory to shut down Alaska drives.

Alaska did, however, score their first ever touchdown on a Brooks Greer end around touchdown just before half. That would bring the score to within ten as Hawaii went in to half up 17-7, but Alaska wouldn't score again.

Personally, I felt like the game played really nicely. The animations were good, and I really liked how the running games felt. Team tackling felt way more important, and the CPU running backs made some really nice moves to find holes. This next week they open their home against Buffalo.

It was a different style game as Buffalo came in with an up-tempo offense. Buffalo (74-72-75) came in at .500, but boy did their offense not disappoint. The disparity in time of possession shows how Alaska tried to combat this.

Alaska's passing game played much better than the previous week, going for 66% and over 250 yards with no turnovers, but Buffalo's two-headed running back monster of Mike Keenan and James Williams were too much for the Warriors to handle.

There were two bright sides to this game. DT Parker Knox forced a fumble on a sack and Duane Weldon returned it to the 10 (the drive would end on fourth and goal from the one to end the half being stuffed). The other was Rodney Fuller's record-setting receiving performance with over 100 yards and three touchdowns. Unfortunately Buffalo just had too much offensive firepower for Alaska to keep up with.

Alaska traveled to Arizona and walked away with a 30-point loss. Arizona (81-83-79) controlled the game early and never looked back. All three of Alaska's quarterbacks played.

Arizona had two rushers go over 100 yards for a total of nearly 280 yards. Alaska safety Gerren Davis recorded the first interception in Alaska history, and linebacker Santonio Bullock recorded a record three sacks.

This game was over. And then it wasn't. UCLA (84-86-85) nearly blew a 28 point lead as Alaska scratched and clawed their way back, but the turnovers ultimately doomed them. It took UCLA half a quarter to get going, but after two offensive touchdowns and a pick six, it looked like it would be over early. Not even three minutes in to the second quarter, UCLA had taken a 28 point lead. But Alaska finally began to find themselves.

Alaska would hold the ball and finally score, aided by a 50-yard reception by Lenny Hurst. They finally got a stop and as time expired hit a field goal to make it 28-10 at half.

The teams would trade the ball back and forth a few times before UCLA broke through with a field goal. On Alaska's next possession, they scored a touchdown. They stopped UCLA and scored again with 8 seconds left in the third to get within 7, 31-24, but UCLA would return the kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown.

UCLA would add another field goal to make it 41-24, but Alaska would answer with Darrin Pierre gaining his third rushing touchdown of the game. With 2 minutes left, Alaska was in field goal range but was sacked twice in a row. With 1:47 left, Raymond Breedlove needed to step in. On fourth and 27, he heaved the ball down field. The DB missed the ball (he kind of warped), and sixth string receiver Chauncey Madison caught the ball and scored on a 50-yard Hail Mary.

Unfortunately, UCLA tailback John Edwards got free and Alaska let him score so they could get the ball back. Chauncey scored again with 32 seconds left, but UCLA recovered the onside kick and that was that. UCLA won 48-45, but it was definitely a moral victory for Alaska.

"We are a fighting team, and we're going to fight until we can't any longer. For a new program to go in to the Coliseum and nearly walk out with a win, that's just incredible," said Coach Hardaway. "We need to take better care of the ball, obviously, but I'm very proud of the way our guys are playing."

Personal note, I absolutely love the way the game feels. I'm not sure if it's the sliders, or if it's the fact that the guys being slower makes the animations feel more realistic, but the way running backs are playing on both sides feels amazing. I don't feel like the CPU is cheating, but I definitely feel like they're better. The CPU runningbacks are breaking just the right amount of tackles so team tackling is SUPER important. You need more than one person around the ball with good backs and it doesn't feel cheap like it has with other slider sets. I feel pretty good about how everything is feeling at the moment. We also got our first three commits today. I'm recruiting 5 total players so it's good to get half of them already.

Absolutely, it felt so close but it was just out of reach. We play North Texas this week at home so hopefully we can get another competitive game out of them. I really want to get the running game going.

There wasn't much of a game for this one. UNT came in and had an efficient and balanced offense. Their runningback Blount ran for 129 yards on just 14 carries and their quarterback O'Neil threw for 253 yards. Alaska quarterback Jeremy Riggs threw for 271 yards but threw four interceptions. The turnovers have been an issue, but in this game they really weren't game breaking. Unfortunately though, the running game couldn't get going. As a team, the Warriors barely broke 50 yards rushing.

This was a game that was strongly contested by Alaska. Going in to such a tough environment, nobody expected Alaska to hang so tough. It was great to see such a well-played game. Alaska was able to get their running game going, but ultimately it wasn't. Alaska had an opportunity with around 3 minutes to go, but Jeremy Riggs threw a terrible pick near the end zone that would have tied the game. Auburn eventually scored and Riggs threw another desperation interception and ultimately Alaska lost by 14. It was a much closer game than expected, but it's hard to view it that way when they had an opportunity to do more.

                              Mid-Year Update

A lot has gone on outside of Alaska football! Miami- the consensus top ranked team finally lost. They beat #5 Georgia Tech last week, but this week they lost by 24 to #17 Nevada.

New #1 team USC is 5-0 and coming off a top 10 matchup versus Arizona. This week they travel to #2 Notre Dame for a "Game-of-the-Century."

My current frontrunner for the Heisman is Kelly Williams of Notre Dame. His team is ranked number 2, and he's a big reason why. He's a 67 percent passer for 267 yards per game. He has 24 TDs and only 3 interceptions.
