    Getting frustrated with '19

I've been playing Madden (and NCAA) since around 1998. Each game has had it's 'quarks' if you will, but I've always seemed to adjust to them ok.

I started playing 19 with the 10 hour EA demo on EA Access and overall, it was enjoyable. I picked up the retail copy and while I noticed the ramped up difficulty with the run game, I was still doing things like going into New England and beating the Patriots. I play with the Steelers so while unrealistic, I was doing it. Beating the Eagles. Curb stomping teams I should like the Browns, etc.

I've not started my franchise yet, I wanted to wait until the 53 man rosters are out so I've been playing on All-Pro, normal speed, haven't touched a slider.

I don't know if it's been the patch or what, but now not only can I no longer run the ball with any sort of consistency, I'm struggling against the teams like Jets. I always seem to throw a pick at the wrong time, sack fumbles in my own territory, drives dying.....I've just quit the game in frustration way too many times the last few times I've played it. The OLine blocking is a mess and I'm waiting for Spiderman to drop and hopefully a new patch.

use your sliders from the NCAA game. they are the same. running game will still be non existent but better.
I felt like you until, I decided to plug in my NCAA 11 sliders into this game. someone on here mentioned they used their NCAA 14 sliders and it was good for them also.

Hmm, that’s interesting. I think I’m gonna have to give that a try myself.

I would suggest running outside zone run plays to the short side of the field (unless it is absolutely overloaded on that side). For some reason, my guys are horrendous at blocking towards the wide side of the field. Don't know if you are doing it or not but DO NOT use the sprint trigger behind the line of scrimmage. Past the line, it can work wonders, but used behind the line they might as well called it the block shed trigger. If the CPU starts spreading out the line to cope with the zone then audible into a dive. I have had pretty good success using this tactic.

I've been playing Madden since the series began. Maybe I'm just too old for this sh1t now. Even with Madden's ups and downs through the years....and there have been plenty, I've never had such a horrible run game as I do in 19. I understand we can do something with sliders, or make changes elsewhere, but really it comes down to the dev's recognizing that they messed up, and they need to balance this game.

Interesting....I'll give this a try. I usually try and run to the wide sides.... Has anyone determined if identifying the mike does anything?

I am frustrated not because I can't run, I have no issues running, but because the cpu can't run for nothing.

I really dislike the new RPM system, specifically because it seems to only apply to the human controlled players, not the CPU. Combine that with the current stamina glitch, and you have a serious limit to what you can get done on offense. This makes the game extremely frustrating in my opinion. Add in the other issues like insta-shed, o-line issues targeting and finishing blocks, super human LB's, the lighting glitches with daytime games, commentary glitches, wind glitch effecting punts and kicks...you get the picture. Frustrating to get your offense going, and lots of bugs/glitches just really bring the fun factor down.

I'm using Matt10's sliders. For the first time, I can play on All-Madden and it feels right. I usually average over 4 yards per carry with Ezekiel Elliott too.

I thought it was just me. I am having the same problem. I play on All Pro default as well.

Your game experience is also influenced by the choice of simulation or competitive mode. Not sure which you are playing but competitive mode is a better user experience. In Simulation mode, the outcomes are more heavily influenced by ratings vs competitive mode.

I think simulation is the default when you set up a franchise. I’ve forgotten to change it more than once and the gameplay difference is immediately noticeable

                          Re: Getting frustrated with '19

The running game seems to be much harder in the first half of games. I find I get only a 1/4 of my overall run yards in any game in the first half then the second half I can get 5-10 yd runs a lot after getting 1-2 yd runs in the first half.

The other thing with 19 is learning not to run like any other Madden before it. :P. Don't speed boost right away, wait until you hit the hole or are in the open before you use it. I find if you speed boost right away the defense sheds their blocks in a split second and nails you in the backfield. So once I get 2 yard or so into the hole or get around the edge on a outside run I hit speed boost and have much better results. I play on AP and put my run block slider to 60 that helped a lot though I do play the Lions and they have a horrible run blocking line. I notice my MUT team when its on All Pro I can run much better with the default settings probably because its Comp mode and my line is better on my MUT team than the Lions OL in my Franchise.

Anyway I traded some people around and got a better line and can do about 100 yds a game now if I dont give up on the run, but still notice the first half is harder to run.

The biggest thing is just learning how to run in this Madden, it is definitely different and I find it more rewarding now that I learned to be patient and only use skill stick and speed boosts at the right times and not just hold it down all the time like in other years.
Go Lions, Tigers, Pistons, Red Wings, Wolverines!

That defeats the whole damn purpose.
IMO competitive mode is stupid because it makes the player ratings mean almost nothing!

I was experiencing this too, it's because of fatigue. I would be bottled up in the first half, but have big runs in the 4th quarter. I would break a lot more tackles and have more holes. I know sliders can be wonky and this can effect that etc etc, but on All-Madden with Matt10's fatigue is at 49, that problem is now gone for me.
