Its beyond ridiculous in streetball...user side all players blow wide open layups while the cpu team makes circus layups all over the place and never miss, i dont know if its there as a kind of cheat so its harder to beat the cpu but when my 87 overall player misses 7 out of 7 layups (some wide open) followed by durant and lebron blowing them too, then see the same two and the whole cpu team on the other side throwing up stupid shots that go in its enough to make ya want to hit the power button and not fire the game back up.

Let me preface this by saying that I’m still debating about picking up the game. There’s things to truly like about this game and then there’s things that require work. This is strictly from my experience with 18’ and 19’s demo with NBA teams.
If ‘fixing’ layups for ‘The Streets’ means it’ll trickle down to affect other game modes including the NBA portion, then don’t. Layups in 18’ on Superstar were essentially guaranteed makes. Didn’t matter if they were circus shots, easy shots, hook shots, all kinds of shots. Users and CPU made layups along with any and all kinds of shots around the rim. I didn’t track the numbers, but it was definitely high.
19’s demo saw better percentages (mental estimates). I didn’t track hard numbers. There were misses, bricks. The rate at which they missed were much improved. I still dislike the animations for circus shots, but EA increasing layup success rates would set the game back. Pump fake, kick it back out if it’s congested.
Advice, use the L1 button to contest their shots. L1 (guard ball) is much more effective contest mechanism than using the L2 button.Comment

I dont think a wide open layup is a bad shot? Ive seen this in live run some as well but not as frustrating as in the "streets mode" where it seems more prevalent and is only frustrating cause of the circus layups the cpu always makes and never misses. As for the ratings its an 88 overall wing scorer...just should not see the amount of (and again its wide open not contested) blown layups. I could care less about making the game artificially harder, just want realism and right now its not very realistic in that department IMO.Comment

The game punishes you for playing out of control. I don't think I've missed a layup yet. I see a lot of players taking high risk/high reward shots/layups. As a result, I've seen a balanced amount of misses and hits.

I've got a decent layup rating (over 80).
But I don't know if I've ever seen a fully wide open layup missed. Maybe one at maximum.
There were some that were missed seemed like they could be open but someone was fairly close with a hand up
If anything people will be asked for layups to be toned down, personally I think they've stuck a great balance, when your that close you will make some contested layups, I see some contested go in and some don't, but all regular layups that aren't contested are going in.

I’ve experienced this countless times. Wide open lane where it would be expected to be a dunk only for a cpu player to warp over near my player for him to then throw up an out of place lay up that misses.
Even when a cpu player isn’t warped over, a dunk animation doesn’t trigger but a lay up one, that misses for some unknown reason.
Then you get a fully contested shot thrown up from deep by the cpu that lands every time.
This can hopefully be patched and otherwise really enjoying the gameComment

Not really looking for support, just sharing my experience and hoping for a fix. My trait for late to the show or whatever the one is called that is for late contested is also maxed so the impact of a player moving over late should be diminished. This has been the only gripe ive had about the game so far but its a big one (especially when the cpu makes these circus lay ups look routine...well that and since this patch i keep getting a looped OG box opening popping up over and over again even tho ive already collected all the items from it, really annoying.Comment

Yeah, its annoying as hell. It feels so fake when I miss a point blank with my player who is amped up but it's like it gears you towards struggling.

Player layups mostly are fine. Sometimes it's unrealistic, but if you don't force it, it works fine usually. He is 100% right about the CPU. I even had to turn down CPU driving layups to 20 and they STILL make BS circus layups nonstop. Russell Westbrook dropped 50 on me without a 3 because of nonstop cheese layups in traffic.Comment

Um, compared to 2k I can actually make layups on this game! In 2k, the canned layup animations on contested shots were gauranteed missed. On Live I'm making tough contested layups, and can even dunk without having to spend money for dunk packages!
