I made the jump to PS4 this year and have made some draft classes to fit into the NBA 2k universe. I base these solely off of CelticLG's "Attention to Detail" roster you can find here https://forums.operationsports.com/f...etail-ps4.html Admittedly, a lot of my "work" is using Celtic's already great work on the ATD roster and using the Player DNA feature to skip a lot of the ****ty attribute and tendency input. Huge shout out to him for this.
Also want to give a quick shout out to two draft class makers I have been using their work this year and they seem to work well with both Celtic's roster and with my classes, Jeb4056 (https://forums.operationsports.com/f...t-classes.html) and Jeffruel (https://forums.operationsports.com/f...t-classes.html). I am currently in 2026 using a combination of my classes mixed with theirs and so far I am having a solid experience.
A little bit about what to expect from these classes:
I have a spreadsheet that I based off the ATD roster which shows how many stars, all stars, starters, and bench players should be in the NBA at any given time. From my analysis of ATD's roster (& correspondence with other class makers this year and in past years) I based my classes on the following. The average draft class should have 1.5 players over 90OVR, 3.0 players over 85OVR, 3.0 over 80OVR, 12.5 over 75OVR, and the rest being below 75OVR. Now, not every class is going to have this distribution. Maybe one year we have 4 superstars, other years wont have any, and other years will be loaded with solid starters without even an allstar. Tanking is a legitimate strategy, but look at the NBA and see how many teams have been burnt by weak classes.
Each class of mine will consist of 60 draftable players, and 90 40OVR 40 year olds who have devastating injuries and should retire as soon as possible. For anyone running expansion leagues I am sorry, but a work around would just be that the last X # of picks after 60 just do not get a pick. I originally made these for me, and I do not use expansion on 2k.
Furthermore, I try to have it so every pick could be a valuable player for your team. You likely will never draft the GOAT in the 2nd round, but I want you to be able to find the next Jimmy Butler, Pascal Siakam, or Nikola Jokic to really give your team a kick start. On the flip side, what you thought was the next big thing *coughWigginscough*, might end up being a 30 million dollar deal in 4 years for a guy who never pans out.
The reality of the NBA is that it is a young mans sport... usually. The reality is not a lot of players play past 30-31 years old. Based off the ATD roster, only 1 player was over 90OVR was older than 31 this year and hes a freak known as Lebron James. Father time catches us all. That is why I have realistic peak ends in my roster. You might sign your stud 90OVR star at age 27 after his 8th NBA season for 40million per year only for him to be 31 and a 75OVR player wasting away your cap with zero trade value.
In short, the NBA is not exactly predictable. Players break out, other break down, players surprise us, and others disappoint us.
Unfortunately, one thing you will not get from me is a lot of activity outside of the draft classes. I know the storylines we get from guys like SimWorld are awesome and I love the resources, but I always thought more draft classes so I can play the game is better than me knowing that the 113th ranked prospect who never grows past 67OVR is related to a stud prospect coming 4 classes from now. Its amazing the effort that takes to put that together, but I would rather play.
Moving on, I have a few quick suggestions for using mine (and really anyone's) fictional (or real!) draft classes.
1) Use 30 team control and make sure EVERY prospect drafted has their deal accepted by their team. This means that teams at least give their guys one year and in my experience, is a more realistic way of approaching things.
2) Do not load in draft classes mid way through a season. I find that this can screw up ages and scouting and it just is not worth it.
3) Play with commentary off. I hate hearing every single player being called "ABC", "AI" or "Little Magician". Put on some music when you play 2k because that drives me up the wall.
