    8/26 -9/9 Game Discussion Thread

    And its September.

    Where does the time go?
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

    Today's the day!

Danny Jansen of the Red Sox will be catching his own pinch hit plate appearance.

Today might be more remembered for the rare doubleheader moment we saw but the Red Sox just had another crazy rare moment.

Their batter got hit by a pitch AND swung at strike 3 AND the runner on 2nd was stealing 3rd.

Anyone want to guess how you score all that?

      Answer:
The official ruling is that since the batter swung, even if he got hit, the swing overruled it so he's out (it was strike 3) but because the ball hit him, it's also ruled a dead ball so the runner can't steal 3rd even though the official ruling is a strikeout.

Judge isn't content blasting homeruns. Now he's robbing them.

I fully expect this Braves/Twins game to get rained out…we are finally breaking out/getting runs.

Rich Hill could be pitching tonight.

Would be his 4th stint with Boston.

Originally drafted in 1999. Would be the 4th pitcher to pitch at age 44. Would be the oldest pitcher in the MLB by almost 3 years! He's been in baseball so long that Greg Maddux was once a teammate of his (which doesn't sound as old as that fact should sound, Maddux was 39 when Hill debuted).

Saw a stat after the Cubs comeback win today. In the last 7 seasons, teams were 1192(or something like that)-0 when leading by 7 runs after the 7th inning.

Skenes is probably trying to figure out how to get out of Pittsburgh

Matt Olson…goodness. I have never seen a ball hit where he just hit one at CBP. That ball cleared the batters eye on the fly…easily. Wow.

I have so little patience for relievers who walk people, let alone the lead off man. Grant Holmes gave up the home run to Castellanos, but Aaron Bummer walking Trea Turner to lead off the inning was the mistake. You can't do that...I don't understand why we use Bummer in high leverage spots; he's been pretty terrible all year, despite what his numbers show on the surface.

We use Bummer because Snit has no idea how to manage a bullpen.

After taking 2 of 3 from Baltimore, splitting four with SD and taking 2 of 3 in Arizona the most Mets thing possible would be to drop this weekend's series to the Whitesox.

White Sox are 6-44 in their last 50 games, no way Mets lose that series lol
