Here are the Marlins new uniforms. I kind of like them. I feel as if they are different, less outrageous that the first Florida Marlins uniforms. I like how they didn't go wild with the new color scheme. Also, the spec sheet says that there is an orange hat to go with the orange top. Definitely not as bad as a lot of people expected.

I agree with sydrogerdavid in that the Miami Marlins uniforms do not look as bad as I initially expected them to be. It seems to me as if the organization wants to eliminate the teal trim and stick with a primarily black and orange color scheme in their uniforms, yet they're able to differentiate them from looking similar to any of the San Francisco Giants unis. Nice job.

I'm not even going to comment on how terrible they look, but I will say they messed up on a technical level in one area: their home jerseys say the name of their city, and not the name of their team. The only jersey to say "Marlins" is the orange one. Neither the white nor any black alternative says that; the rest all say "Miami." While that may look better than Marlins on the jersey, I can't believe they actually have that.

There's only one reason I will like them, though: you made 'em, you keep 'em. No changing it around later after realizing that you're too different from the rest. Arizona did it, and now their color scheme is just too close to too many other jerseys. I appreciate the differentiation for differentiation's sake, even if they're terrible. If I permit them to change anything, it would be to have it say "Marlins" on their whites, and maybe to shrink the lettering in general. But no color scheme reiterations, please. This is your mess you made, and you have to live with it.

I don't hate them as much as I thought I would. I hope they start selling orange t-shirts with player names on the back, I would love a Mike Stanton one.

I believe they are using the basis that they are making the world know that they are the MIAMI Marlins. Maybe in a few years they will change it; once everyone has been thumped over the head that they play in Miami.

This is understood, but it's just a bit too much overkill IMO. I'm glad the Angels didn't start boasting Los Angeles on their home jerseys.

How long did it take for ESPN to stop saying, "Sportscenter in Los Angeles"? We were hit over the head with that for well over a year!
