Profar suspended for 80 games after testing positive for performance enhancers.
Had a career year last year and turned that in to a 3 year 42m deal.
The PA would never agree to it, but teams should be allowed to void contracts should a guy test positive for a banned substance. Doesn't seem fair to pay a guy then find out after that he's cheating.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Torpedo bats are all the rage, but I had not read anything specific about it since a lot of times I like to not seek out an article to read about stuff prominent in the news, but rather I'll wait 'till it "founds me" somehow. Well, the article found me
Found this section particularly interesting:In the coming year or two, we’ll be seeing more torpedo bats specifically, and more bats that are customized to an individual player generally. But they could also be tailored for a specific situation. “I think they could even get more granular than that, having a range of bats made for guys,” Aydt said. “And then depending on that night’s starter or the matchup they’re going to see, they could decide which bat to go with… based off the pitch types they’re seeing, if the hitter misses more at a certain part of the bat based off different pitches or what they’re most likely to see that night. Or if guy has attacked more inside, attacked more outside consistently against that hitter… If they’re going to be facing a ton of velo that night and they’re a guy who doesn’t consistently hit velo well, it could be a good thing to lower that MOI. So that would be moving more of the mass closer to the hands, which is essentially lowering the swing weight. So it’s easier for them to get up to speed quicker, improving the acceleration of the bat to help them catch up to velo.”

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Former major leaguer Octavio Dotel has died in a tragic accident, per multiple sources out of the Dominican Republic, including Diario Libre. The roof of the Jet Set club in Santo Domingo collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Full details of the tragedy are still emerging but Diario Libre says at least 27 people have died while rescue efforts continue. It was initially reported that Dotel was pulled from the rubble alive but the most recent reports indicate he was taken to a hospital, where he arrived without vital signs. He was 51 years old.
Exact details of the tragic situation are difficult to pin down, but it appears hundreds of people were in the venue for a concert when the collapse happened. Dozens of people have been pulled out alive but many have died and the figures are likely to change. Dotel was reportedly trapped for about 11 hours before being rescued and initially survived, but was declared dead after being taken to a hospital.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Awful news. The Astros were extremely tough if they led through 6 innings when they had Billy Wagner, Brad Lidge, and Dotel.
I enjoyed watching those guys work.

Dotel at one point held the record for most teams played for, only passed by Edwin Jackson. But funny enough, he was traded with Edwin Jackson by the Jays in the Colby Rasmus trade.
An original Washington National too. He played in the Nats first ever game.Comment
