I remember when a team tanked the last game of the seaason versus the griz so they could be the 6 seed forcing us to play the mavs in the first round. Where we promptly got swept and thus the punchline of never winning a playoff game.

Great freaking post. To piggy back this, I remember the old Bulls/Pistons rivalry and living and dying with every shot.

Those 3 straight ECF against the Bad Boys where the Bulls just couldn't do it, then culminated it with their sweep and the Pistons walking off the court early.

Damn I miss the old NBA.

I remember when there used to be REAL Rivalries and not none of this buddy/buddy **** you see now.

And when people didn't call a rivalry a rivalry when one team routinely beat up another team each year (cough cough.............LeBrons vs Wizards)

Hell, I think that's the absolute closest we've had to a REAL "rivalry" since the old NBA days.

You can blame AAU ball for that. By the time these guys reach the pros they have been playing against and hanging out with each other since they were pre-teens.

I remember when you used to go to an NBA game and the focus was on the court, not the sideshows/pyrotechnics/fan contests going on.

I remember when the Lakers played the Kings in the 2002 WCF and thinking to myself, "This could be the emergence of the next great rivalry" and, "I'll probably never enjoy an NBA series as much as this one."

The latter is still true. My interest in the NBA has since declined.
