Re: Pittsburgh Pistons?
David Stern will work like a maniac to keep the Pistons in Detroit. Even if Detroit does move, there has to be better options than Pittsburgh. I think the NBA should look at Vegas, Seattle, and Kansas City (has that great, big, new arena thats just desperate for a tenant) before they consider Pittsburgh. I think in the next 5ish years in addition to the Nets moving i think the Hornets, Grizzlies, and Kings will all be somewhere else, so all that movement might open up a spot for Pittsburgh. Hopefully if theres ever a team in Pittsburgh they'll rename the club the Pipers or Condors after the former ABA franchise. As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"Comment

Re: Pittsburgh Pistons?
NBA needs to add 4 teams (gift to players union).
Then increase salary restrictions. Have max 13 man rosters with a true minor league system.
Then you bring in teams in Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Seattle and Vancouver.
This would increase revenue as a whole, create more NBA jobs and allow for an easier collective bargaining agreement with the NBA owners who will get better salary cap status for the increase in NBA employees.
Phase this in 5 years along with a true minor league system in which each team has a minor league team that can get any player over the age of 18.
A brief synopsis but there could be a lot of compromise to build the NBA brand and avoid lockout.Comment

Re: Pittsburgh Pistons?
Hell will freeze over before the NBA ever, ever, ever steps foot in Vancouver again. Yeah I know that David Stern has said that the Vancouver debacle is the thing he regrets the most during his tenure but that city is scorched earth for the NBA. I would be absolutely shocked if the NBA ever considered it, much less actually went there.
I really dont think that NO is going to be there much longer, especially if Chris Paul leaves. That team peaked a couple years ago and they're in the absolute worst situation imaginable being in the same division with Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and now even Memphis. New Orleans desperately needs to be moved to the Central where they'd be 2nd in the division and tied for a 5th seed in the playoffs. If they stay in the Southwest there might not be any hope for them.
Now I hope no Hornets fans take that the wrong way because i like them and i absolutely love Chris Paul but the situation they're in sucks. As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"Comment

Re: Pittsburgh Pistons?
New Orleans has as much upside as Houston and Memphis. I don't understand that one.
San Antonio will be a 6-10 team in the West in a couple of years.
I just think the NBA has more options than it thinks. Sellouts are not going to happen everywhere. That is why creating more jobs and decreasing the power of the guarantee contract will help the sport survive in cities like New Orleans, Charlotte etc....
Anyway I think we need more teams on the West Coast/Pacific time.Comment

Re: Pittsburgh Pistons?
Yep. I think Charles Barkley said it best when he said there are already too many teams as it is.
Look at it this way, there aren't that many good teams out there. LA, Boston, Cleveland, maybe Denver and Orlando. Adding more teams would equal a much worse NBA product IMO.
Hopefully Detroit doesn't move anywhere BTW.Comment

Second, outside of the Lakers, nobody pays attention to West Coast teams.Comment
