I think you mean Kane announced that Spurs will not sell him.

As for screwed up, Kane also screwed up by hiring his idiot 'agent' brother, who also screwed up.

The whole thing is and will continue to be absolutely hilarious as it's easy to laugh at each aspect of each side.

I agree, Kane and City both screwed up. Kane should have gone about the whole thing in a better way and fans would have supported his decision to leave. But doing the Neville interview and not showing up to training really hurt his image.

City just had to bid close to £150m and it would have been done but a starting bid of £75m+25m only upset Levy I’m sure.

For once Levy did the right thing and held out. Everyone knows Kane wants the scoring record so he will continue to try.

I've mentioned this in the PL thread before, and it's not something I knew about until hearing actual journalists (The Athletic podcast) and not pundits discuss how Man City works regarding transfers. They will spend big money on a player, but they will not play games, really. They set an evaluation and a price they're willing to pay, and if someone tries to go for something higher than that, they walk away.

I think this was clearly a Pep wanting Kane, but City's executive committee not wanting him as badly. They were willing to pay big, but they're not above walking away from someone being 'upset' or insulted by their massive opening bid.

Does't mean they couldn't have handled it better, but they're not as much of a run and gun wild spending machine as they can be made out to be. They spend, but they're not PSG and in a way won't let themselves be pushed around or pay out of this world fees just because they can. If those other than Pep at City really wanted Kane, I think he'd be there right now.

If Kane was smart enough not to hire his brother as his agent, he'd have a different contract and might be at City right now because instead of teams playing bidding games with Levy, there'd be an actual clause in his contract.

[For the record, I hate them, their ownership, and what they along with the likes of PSG have done to the transfer market.]

Listening to the Football Show on XM, Ray Hudson is such a joke. Blaming Levy for holding Kane hostage and saying Spurs should show loyalty and let Kane go.

That’s the last thing I’ll say on the Kane situation until next summer. Just had to get that out. [emoji16]

Hopefully we play this XI tonight to get guys minutes who have been out.

I think both sides lost in this tbh. Spurs get a player who’s value is only going to decline, yet on a much higher deal (he’s gonna get his new deal) that also everyone knows doesn’t want to be there. They can’t win trophies with him so why not start the rebuild?

City has a massive gap at ST now that Jesus is basically a RW. Yeah they’re good enough to beat almost clubs but that’s a huge flaw against the top top sides.

I get what you’re saying but Spurs had zero reason to sell. Kane and City pay for sure but Spurs have the best striker in the league who is desperate to be the all time scorer so you know he will try.

Spurs have been in cup finals, semifinals and title races in recent years. No reason they can’t do it again in the next 2-5 seasons with Kane and Son leading it. Now that Jose is gone, the club will continue moving forward.

See I think, and it's just my opinion, that his value is never going to be higher and the ankle issues aren't going away, especially considering his involvement with the NT and the fact that Levy has never been able to find a decent #2 ST to take minutes away. Son is really good up top but ideally you would want to limit his minutes/fatigue as well.

I'm not one of those people that thinks he'll stop giving 100% but to me it seems like a ticking time bomb if things go south for the club in terms of results.

I do like the links to McKinnie though. Obviously as a Chelsea fan I'd hate to see him at Spurs but he's such a Spurs type of no nonsense player and a real box-to-box.

Yeah, I don't even want to think about the physical condition Kane will be in 2–5 years down the road. His miraculous recoveries are coming to an end soon, I'm sure. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that if he signs a new contract on huge wages he'll eventually become a bit of an albatross. Hobbling around on his big wages smacking a goal in now and then.

Still have not put in a great performance for a full 90 minutes but 3 wins and have not conceded yet. Need to get Kane up to fitness and figure out how to break down teams sitting deep and I think this can be a good season.

Still need a RB and MF to really balance the team. Ideally we sell Aurier and Ndombele this window, bring in Traore and Tomiyasu.

Not exactly a Nuno specialty—but, he's working with very different players than previously.

It’s been a problem for Spurs since the Poch days. We desperately need a play maker who can pick out passes. I’d like to see if Gil could dribble through some guys too and create chances.
