Do you all think this NCAA game engine will do it?

Folks, being a real stickler for current technology and advancements in just about anything I purchase, For the first time I am truly left with a baffling decision.

After playing the crap out of Madden 2002 last year and even some more this year....I am left with a strange feeling about buying NCAA 2003 that will actually be sporting an engine that isnt even as advanced as the Madden 2002??.. And I particularly had some minor issues with this Madden 2002 engine as well and was looking foward to this year's Madden engine.

Now, my dilemma is in spending another $50 this year for only 1 football fix and deciding on which to purchase. Even if I stretch my budget to get both games, I still feel a bit unsure in buying a football game that has an oudated engine

Can I ask any of you that may know this, How outdated or different is the NCAA 2003 game engine. I guess this is for anyone that may have played the demo or just know the new features or differences

This has really got me bugged cause I love both PRO and NCAA football but I just dont have time to invest in both of em. I really would prefer the NCAA game over the Pro simply because of it's Dynast/career depth but only if the actual game play and football experience provided some improvement or just different playing experience over last year's Madden 2002

No their is no real let downs in the tech of the engine of the game I would go with NCAA 2003 but whatever you get it will probably be good.

People are getting the wrong idea and simply think that NCAA 2003 is Madden 2002 with college teams and a dynasty mode...These games are both developed by two seperate teams and they both go in their own directions...If you love college football you will love this as it feels and plays much different then Madden.

Yes, I think it will. Both are 2 different games, and I like the gameplay that NCAA brings along with Madden. While they are similar, I like the differences each game brings, with slight gameplay improvements in Madden over NCAA, and with the college atmosphere in NCAA 2003.

I also must agree, I think they are two different games. While the game engine is similar, they play differently.

I'm a little pissed that NCAA 2003 won't have gang tackles or mini camp mode but last year I enjoyed NCAA 2002 over Madden 2002 so I'll be fine.

guys....Im not sure what post I read this in but someone who has actually played the game sayed the camera zooms back further on pass plays then on running plays????.....This is terrible! If this is true, you will always know when the CPU is running or passing????........Am I right?

Yeah, there's no way that would get past beta testers. Well, you hope not at least.

Re: Do you all think this NCAA game engine will do it?

Ncaa 2002 was "based" on Madden 2001 but the gameplay was actually better than Madden 2002. Why then, would you expect NCAA 2003 to suddenly revert to being worse than Madden 2002? Especially when the EA rep was interviewed he mentioned upgrading the gameplay of Maden (while not mentioning NCAA directly) to a faster speed which is what I preferred about NCAA 2002.

The graphical improvements, bells, whistles etc will always be a year or so behind because Madden has been around on this generation of consoles for a year longer than NCAA has. But that doesn't mean it will be a year worse. What you are seeing in NCAA 2003 is NCAA 2002 with upgraded grpahics, (faces, smoother look) plus more college specific window dressing. Yes, you are buying this to get the little improvements.

Incrimental improvements are the American way. Or haven't you seen the movie "Tucker "?

I agree with basically everyone here. Much like last year, the 2 will be similar, but each will be true to their sport. NCAA will play different simply because college isn't the pros. Like montezuma said, I thought NCAA was better than Madden last year. I never really got into Madden last year, but couldn't stop playing NCAA. Probably because I like college football more than the NFL, so you may disagree with me. They're 2 different games with 2 distinct styles of play.

Wait!...Now I'm really confused here. Not only do we have 5 different football games but now we have 2 LBs!!?....

Who is the old LB...who is the new LB....and what's the difference!?

BTW folks......can some of you elaborate on WHY you actually liked NCAA 2002 over Madden 2002 last year? I'm really looking for actual on the field gameplay preferences.

Cause I really enjoyed Madden 2002 and thought it was the best in their entire series but never played NCAA 2002.
