"The demo for Madden 09 will hit XBL and PSN on Friday August 1st. If you just can’t wait until August 1st the same demo (only for the Xbox 360) is available with the purchase of an NFL DVD that releases tomorrow the 22nd."

We're not able to play defense in the demo? That's pretty weak. I know the virtual trainer is there and all, but not being able to play defense in the actual game...

Yikes, that is uber ghey. I want to get a feel for the game, how can you do that if you CANT PLAY DEFENSE!!! This will raise all sorts of questions as to what they are hiding.

Especially since the defense is one of the biggest gripes with NCAA this year. However I am still looking forward to the demo, can't comment on what I haven't played.

I have a feeling this was done on purpose. Will Madden be just like NCAA and be offense favored once again? I'm willing to bet it will be. Unfortunately...

Yeah this is kind of fishy. I understand wanting to do something "different" but with all the legit concerns with NCAA, not being able to play defense in the demo is weird.

Plus, it's not the "same demo" in the DVD. Someone said it was back in April, while this demo is close to final build.

Can you link to where Phil or Ian said it was an earlier build on the DVD? Pasta makes it sound like the same thing just one is available today and one is in 9 days

The DVD demos had to be done way back in April because of lead times.

You can't play defense this year, it will be an added feature next year .

Since Sony only updates the store on Thursday, it's really August 7th on PSN.
