Rocafella,
thanks man. Reading this thread from iPhone, yours stood out most. Helped me understand the concept of ISO. I'll be getting the demo in a few hours. Can't wait.

Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
Overall, Im finding the demo quite enjoyable, if not a little underwhelming. A lot of the positives have already been covered, so I'm going to play devils advocate a bit here. Please don't get me wrong, i'm not a *****, nor am I an EA sports fanboy. I'll play whatever the best game is each year. Couldn't care less if it was 2K or EA.
Anyway...
The biggest disappointment so far is how easy it is to still pick and roll and throw an amazing pass to the cutting player over and over and over again. Granted, some of the passes get picked off, but the ball handler can be facing the wrong direction and you can throw an amazing pass through the hands and feet of 5 players.
Im not sure if its my game or setup (running xbox at 720p with component cable, samsung 32" LCD) but the players still have these faint white lines around their faces, arms, legs etc. Its hard to explain, but its been in the 2k games for the last couple of years too. Does anyone know what I mean? It really ruins the authenticity of the player textures.
In contrast, I do like the off the ball movement, this is something i've been wishing for for years, and its good to see screens being set for the off the ball players automatically. And it doesn't seem to easy to cheese with pass and shoots too.
Im having a bit of trouble with the isomotion though. It seems a little unresponsive. Maybe its just me. And I've noticed you can get stuck in post animations, which adds to the unresponsiveness in the paint.
I do like the collision animations, and the sound when you swipe and/or block a shot. Gives the moment a bit of a boost.
As its a demo, with no settings to tinker with, and no play calling, and no doubt reduced graphic quality, I'm going to reserve my decision until I get the full version. But as it stands, Im giving the demo a 7.5/10.I can stop the pick and roll.....The computer can't and either will over half of the online playersDont know what you talking about..The CPU Ai knocks the lead passes down most of time. there is no lead pass chesse in that demo. and you can stop the pic and roll you ever heard of fighting through the pic or playing better Defense. you sound like someone who cant play.Comment

Why would you be worried about the CPU not being able to stop the Pick and Roll?
Simply play sim ball and the CPU won't have to. The other half of online players though is another storyComment

Ehh, Are you still having difficulty getting a smooth jumper off when passing to a player coming off a screen?"Your character is who you really are, your reputation is what you're perceived to be by others" - John Wooden(former UCLA head coach)Comment

Graphics are amazing. It's very photorealistic. This year 2k has nailed the smoothness that was requires and gone are the days of the waxy wierd cardboard cutout textures of pastgames. It actually almost perfect
Gameplay while smooth and realistic has bad user control imllementation. i mean very bad. I'm hoping we can change the schemes in the final and i won't decide until i know eitherBrand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment

Very very impressed, game feels great, the new animations are great, the AI feels improved, the opening intro thing highlighting star players great touch, crowd sounds great, and the controls feel tight as hell. My one question is this, why the hell didn't NHL2k9 recieve the same treatment?Last edited by RealmK; 10-03-2008, 09:38 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K9 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here
I stil don't see the leap in graphics....still reminds me of 2K8...I do like how the players have weight to them, and have noticed some different layups and such....I really wasn't blown away with this game. Probably won't be a day-one purchase for me.Comment

i love the feel of the game. the off ball movement is awesome. you don't HAVE to run plays anymore because your guys will set picks, come off screens, etc. on their own.
the gold on the lakers uniforms is off. it needs to be more yellow.
still don't have isomotion down with the ps3 controller yet. can't wait to get the game on 360.
between this demo and the socom demo my two favorite games right now are freaking demos...Last edited by BobbyColtrane; 10-03-2008, 08:17 AM.Comment
