I have bought every installment of this game dating back to WSB 2k3 on release day.

This year I will be waiting until I see the reaction of this board before I pick it up. I have confidence the Show will be good enough to hold me over.

I would not get overly excited about the game until 2k can show us they can release a good game of baseball.

I was a 2K guy dating back to the days of WSB on the Saturn. Last year, as soon as I heard about the feature i realized the game was going to suck...i bought a PS3(before 2k even came out) and got the Show...best investment. I was so confident 2K was going to suck I bought a PS3 before the launch.

1. If 2K sucks again I expect PS3 sales to increase
2. No matter what 2K says you can never quite believe them
3. This is make or break for 2K...remember 3 years ago, Brinkman said that it would be a 3 year project...well this is the final project

All that being said...if that preview list was posted last year I would have waited til launch to get a PS3.

I am marginally hopeful. For me it was the HORRIBLE hitting that chased me from the 2K series. Most other things could be fixed via sliders. It sounds like they might have improved the hitting. THe problem for them with me is that...I am already addicted to the Show. So they have competition for me. Also...either way I am getting the Show...so they would be my second baseball game if anything...for me to get a 2nd baseball game...means that there are no other good games out. It may be a case of too little too late.

I am hopeful for these guys to final make a decent game instead of a piss poor game. But I will be too busy playing a great game in the Show. And evenn if the Show 09 sucks..i might just update the SHow 08 roster and play

I expect to see screens of 2K9 this week.

Otherwise, count me among those who are concerned. We do, however, know a good deal about 2K9 (more so than we did this time last year).

Between the features list and what the former 2K employee (totally blanking on the name right now, sorry) told us before leaving the company, here's what we know:

-New announcing duo
-Presentation a "major" focus
-New stadium guy was redoing parks before 2K8 shipped
-No more "loading" cutscenes to tax the game engine
-Zone hitting
-Increased hit variety
-Streamlined pitching
-New fielding options

From everything I've read, Visual Concepts knew it was taking over MLB well before 2K8 shippped, and that 2K9 was in pre-production before 2K8 was in our hands. They've likely had longer to work on 2K9 than most teams get to work on a yearly sports release; that has me hopeful we'll all get something we can enjoy.

The thing that bugs me about 2k is their lack of marketing when (at least it seems to me) they aren't confident about a title.. (see MLB 2k8, NHL 2k9)

"MLB screens are on the horizon so expect some good stuff to drop within the next couple of weeks."

Yeah, like the game.

I would like to see screens of the New Stadiums that have been designed. I'm anxious, I'm really not concerned about the lack of media
honestly its nothing new with any 2K game. NBA 2K rarely has screens and its a great game if you fix one or two problems and problems are caused by the User.

To get the feel I popped in MLB 2k7 that games graphics as well all know were astonishing
MLB 2K8 just felt cheesy like they gave up on the game. It had graphics of backyard baseball for the gamecube. With VC with 2K MLB I have more confidence in their game

I am hoping as is everyone with a 360 that 2k9 will come through this year. The lack of press for it is no big deal, actually it is making me more curious and a little more optimistic as the release date draws near. As far as the Show goes, last years game was far from perfect, it had a long list of bugs and glitches as well. Both games need to step it up so ALL baseball fans can have a great game for whatever system.

Many thought NHL 2k9 was not new (built from the ground up as 2k claimed )but a rehash of a earlier game that VC did ?

Yikes...I'm hoping this "reboot" of the franchise will fair better than NHL 2K9. That game got a new developer, and it shows. Not a bad game, but not up to the same level as NHL 09.

Thats what happens when a new developer gets a game though. They kind of have to start over. I dont know how much they started over with MLB2K9 we will soon find out i am sure and stuff is going to be dropping very very very soon.

NHL wasnt a bad game, but there was just not enough time to get in everything they wanted as 1 year cycles dont allow that. I am also pretty sure that the MLB team is alot better then the NHL team for obvious reasons.

The complete lack of support 2K sports showed NHL2K9 make this a rental for me. I no longer trust nor believe anything they say, I feel the same way about EA it show me time after 15 years. I really don't think it's to much to ask for feedback from a developer, or why after all these years roster updates can't be fix or even address. If a game goes up in price we have the right to at least expect the game to preform as told.

The hitting wasn't bad at all, especially with batter's eye(which I don't think many used)..

PS3 sales will have negligible change due to either of these series performances.....

Brinkman is no longer on the game, so his 3 year plan is not in effect per se...Although I think 2k does need pretty good showing..

I think with VC at the helm, the results will be pleasing (if not spectacular in their first effort)
