Your post has been making me think about shadows for the past 10 minutes. This is going to be a productive day at work.
Is there a ball shadow projected anywhere on the field? If the light source was directly above the object then the shadow would be cast directly below it. But in the demo the sun is setting casting a shadow from east to west. So in the case of a fly ball the shadow would be to the east or west on the field, not directly below the ball in flight.
Unless you are talking about the shading on the ball itself, then disregard my question.
