Re: Madden NFL 10 Blog: Player Ratings - A New Philosophy, A New Era

Donny & Ian-

What I'd like to propose for the elite players only (players with a 90+ rating) is a ratings group-scale grade system that will perserve superstar playmaking ability...while at the same time making the style of play more unique for each individual athlete, and also subject the elite players to average & even below average performances at times. You can do this by using the non-position specific ratings.

Here's how it works...

Ratings will be grouped like this...

SPD
STR
AWR

ACC
FAT
SPC (spectatular move)

AGL
TGH (toughness)
INJ (injury)

Now, all you do is add the number ratings in each ratings group respectively and divide by three to get the avg. That average for each group would be the players elite grade.

Example: An average of 73 for AGL, TGH, & INJ would grade out to be a C. Well, this type of player should wear down and have nagging injuries that hinder his play late in the season & into the playoffs.

Example: An average of 79 for ACC, FAT, SPC would grade out to be a C. Well, this player won't make big plays late in games because he is less explosive, tired, and not as spectacular. If you call a timeout rest him for a few plays then put him back in...he'll recover.

The higher the avg the better the player will play in the 4th qtr or in OT.

so on...so on...

any thoughts on this idea?
