Need your opinions on Run Commit / Pass Commit feature
We've been talking at length about the Run Commit / Pass Commit feature lately. I have my own opinions but I don't want to cloud any judgment.

Can it."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that." -

Remove it, it should be tied into awareness rating. It also really should be tied to the playcall. Most defensive plays are designed imo as to be either a run stopper or pass defending defense.Last edited by moose1619; 03-04-2009, 04:41 PM.I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me!

Re: Need your opinions on Run Commit / Pass Commit feature
Okay lol, let me give my reasons why.
1) I don't like artificial ratings boosts in any part of the game due to any situation.
2) How pratical is it to tell all 11 guys on defense to commit to the run in the middle of a cadance?
3) It seems like this should be on offense as well to balance it out due to the fact that my players seem to suck when this is on.Last edited by Rocky; 03-04-2009, 04:39 PM."Maybe I can't win. Re: Need your opinions on Run Commit / Pass Commit feature
I hate doing it as the snap happens. If i want to do it i should be telling the d in the huddle not right as the ball is snaped. I want to be able to tell me d on 3rd and 1 to watch the playaction. If they run i get beat. To me it should happen in the huddle or at least before the snap. its un real to have it happen at the snap and the whole d respond.
It should stay but be changed.Comment

Re: Need your opinions on Run Commit / Pass Commit feature
but to get back on track, I said to make it pre-play, but I wouldn't really mind if it got removed either, but I hate when its after the play. I accidentally Hit-Stick sometimes, and that can be a painComment

But make sure it is not on the same mechanic as the hit stick.Comment

Re: Need your opinions on Run Commit / Pass Commit feature
im suprised the community thinks it should be removed entirely!!! i think it should have to be decided pre-play... but if you audible then you can choose to "run d audible" or "pass d audible"... this should stop cheesers from coming out in pass then audible-ing (sp?) to run after the d have pass committed.Comment

Re: Need your opinions on Run Commit / Pass Commit feature
I would have no problem if it was removed completely. Your desire to commit to defending the run or pass should be part of the play call decision. However, I can even live with a pre-play adjustment like a coach telling his guys "Nickel Cover 2 man and don't get beat deep. Let them run the ball - it's 3rd and 20!" As long as its done before the snap then I wouldn't have a problem with it. But allowing people to commit to the run or pass after the snap of the ball is nothing more than arcade garbage imo. The awareness of the players should dictate the reaction. The r-stick should be saved for the DL and map some good moves to it (NCAA '06 had this). The r-stick should not be used for an arcade gimmick like run or pass commit.Comment

Re: Need your opinions on Run Commit / Pass Commit feature
i agree with this... i hate how the guy i controlled did a hitstick hit as i told me d to run commit... pretty much meant i lost a man for a few secs in the play... stupid.Comment

Re: Need your opinions on Run Commit / Pass Commit feature
I don't like it pre-play except in obvious situations. But when you get into normal situations, how do you decide to commit to anything and you haven't SEEN anything yet? But when it is 1st and 10, 2nd and 4-8, 3rd and 2 - 4 you cannot simply decide pre play.Comment

Re: Need your opinions on Run Commit / Pass Commit feature
Players have a read system that tells them pass or run and video games can't really emulate this. Now maybe a new rating that tells how good a player is at reading an offensive player needs to be put in place. Unless the play is a stunt/blitz then a player needs to be going no matter what and redirecting when he finds the ball. I would assume a ray lewis at LBer would have a higher read rating than say a Gholston(spelling) type palyer. This could also be used for DB's either reading routes in man coverage or reading players for run support. Commiting to run or pass to me is a play call. And like LBzrule said this mainly affects LBers and safeties.I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me!
