Someone at 2K had mercy on the people who wanted another 2K game, and gave the go ahead to make another football game. All they hype you are seeing now about Madden 2010 was going on then about 2K8 because like now no one knew a whole lot of details about what features the game would have. All we knew was it was gonna be based around legends.
Just like now when 2K dropped their "world premier" trailer it was met with ALOT of disappointment. That and the fact it would have no franchise mode pissed alot of people off, even the 2k5 "fan boys" Those who just wanted a better playing football game than 2K5 and were not much into franchise modes anyway were still hyped for the game.
Long Story short the game delievered on what its intent was, and that was to be a polished 2k5 on the field.
There is no game currently available that:
1. Has the player ratings so nailed for each position that each player has their own uniqueness to them.
2. Has the animations and feel that it has.
3. Has the strategic balance that it has.
4. Has well put together online leagues.
The depth Ap2k8 gave was on the field for those who loved to play a "football" game.
Yeah I see what you are saying and all but, imo the game just didn't have enough to it to warrant the $60 price tag.
A good amount of 2k5 fans agree and imo, it would seem like more who liked 2k5 would too.
