Re: NCAA Football 10 Exclusive Interview Week #1
So nothing about the ridiculous gamespeed.
I'll be a bit of an optimist and list positives first..
1) They have a pocket (and, most likely, a pass rush).
2) They've supposedly improved coverage.
3) They made pursuit angles better.
4) Branching tackles and 2 man gang tackles
5) Adaptive AI
The negatives.
1) Still missing a ton of features (IE, formation subs, in-game saves)
2) Nothing about gamespeed (or player momentum)
3) No 9-man gang tackles
4) No new QB ratings
5) Nothing about an improved in-game AI.
They claim to have fixed a few of the major issues. The pocket and a pass rush, pursuit and coveage really needed to get fixed. I'm not going to blast them for not adding things Madden added (though, I'm not happy about it).
The big issue is that the game is the game is still going to be twitchy and over-the-top fast. The AI playcalling might still be awful and the QB is still going to live in the flats.
Watching teams like Notre Dame run the zone read 15 times a game gets old, especially since the QB can't execute it.
Most likely not going to buy it at this point, though, maybe, something will come out and change my mind.Comment

I feel like gameplay is still the most important aspect to selling a game and making a big profit. in my mind, new features will sell the game at first to casual fans, but what really gets the bucks is if the people that buy the game say wow this game is really good and tells their friends that it's a good game. i went to my friends house once who is a very very casual gamer and we played FIFA 09. the gameplay was great and i bought in within a week. 3 of my friends then bought because i recommended it. all of us could have cared less about any new features. we just enjoy the game. i really use be a pro (i don't know if that was in previous versions). the only new feature i use is adidas live season. but the moral of the story is that if a game has good gameplay, more people will buy it.UNC Tar Heels

Wow, CB, I am amazed by how positive you have been on these boards with almost everyone being so negative."Attempted murder? Now, honestly, what is that? Do they give a Nobel Prize for attempted chemistry?"

I have however, heard/read some of the things that I felt needed fixing/tweaking/adding have been addressed.
So therefore, I'm positive about this game and anxiously awaiting the chance to get my hands on it.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: NCAA Football 10 Exclusive Interview Week #1
What I don't get is that college football is one of the most, if not THE most, beloved sports in our country. College football is loaded with pageantry and tradition, with pomp and circumstance. Saturdays across America crackle with electric autumn air and the sounds of shoulder pads and helmets as fans numbering sometimes in excess of a 100,000 lose their minds like they are storming the Bastille. I mean, we're talking Bear Bryant and Desmond Howard, Tony Dorsett and Joe Pa. The Option. Ohio St. vs. Michigan. The Heisman.
And yet we as video gamers and fans of college football do not get to see the game we so very much love faithfully represented in a medium we love as well. We should be cranking up our consoles to massive stadiums pulsing with feverish howling and big, thick playbooks with tons of options and customization. Coaches and assistants should carry with them vibrant, dynamic personalities just as the players should. Recruiting should be a deep, conversation-based experience. The linebackers at Penn St. should prowl the grass with weight and menace. We should tremble at the speed USC fields. We should be able to scout the golden-armed QB from some small, podunk high school. It should just be this huge, beast of a game with personality and intelligence, but most of all, it should feel like FOOTBALL.
And yet we can't even get formation subs. Instead, Season Showdown. I'm baffled.Comment

recruiting being fixed =
attendance getting love =
bowl specific endzone art =
I'm in the minority here in that formation subs isn't a big deal to me. It's been my experience that it's often used to promote the worst sort of cheese (i.e. putting a cb or wr at qb, etc.). So long as there are still package subs, I'm good.Comment

Thus far, aside from no in-game saves nor formation subs, I haven't heard/read anything that completely bums me out.
I have however, heard/read some of the things that I felt needed fixing/tweaking/adding have been addressed.

As with Madden, I understand the restraints and limitations these guys have in manufacturing game titles every year, but they're out of excuses. Season ******* Showdown."When you win, nothing hurts." -- Joe NamathComment

Re: NCAA Football 10 Exclusive Interview Week #1
I commend the guy on the interview, at least he didnt lie. Even though all the information given seemed like a let down, at least he gave info.
Having said that, its time for whoever it is that calls the shots on the NCAA dev team to step down and do something else.
I dont know who is in charge of what does or what doesnt happen in this franchise, but its time for them to go. College football has gone from a must have game since I started playing Bill Walsh football back in 92 I think, to pure garbage.
Strides have been made in every imaginable way in all other sports games, yet the NCAA series is as stale as 10 year old moldy bread.
Take a look at all the advances that have been made in the FIFA and NHL series. Look at MLB the Show....I hate baseball and the things that game has accomplished is amazing. Look at how 2k introduced presentation and player interactions on a scale that hasnt been matched in the almost 6 years since it was released.
The 2010 season is releasing soon and we STILL havent gotten back the same options in next gen games that we had 10 years ago on other sports games. Create a team? ...I remember creating teams in Play action football on the Super Nintendo. Highlights as part of presentation? I remember having that back in 92-94 or so on Madden. Commentary? It changed more on a yearly basis on Sports talk football from 92, 93, 94 than it has changed on NCAA in the previous 8 years. Played NCAA 02 religiously in Korea on Xbox since we had nothing else to do, 90% of the commentary from 09 can be heard on 02 as well.
NCAA team, whoever is in charge of what yall do or dont do is a disgrace to modern video game developers.
The reason we still post is because we care so much. If I didnt like college football I wouldnt even post here, however its my most beloved sport and it frustrates me to no end that you continuously release a subpar product and if I want to have a college football game, your the only one avaliable.
The most frustrating aspect to all of this is that you have all the information you need from communities on the internet availible to you for free. You know what the customer wants, and have known for years...yet every year you ignore the community and break aspects of the game only to fix it in the yearly update and call it a new feature.Comment
