there is hope for us 2k5 fans
for everyone who plays nfl 2k5 there is hope for us but it will seem like an eternity away. this hope that i speak of is that once 2013 comes around we will finally get the license back unless ea extends with the nfl (which probably will happen) but here is a proposed thought. 2K gives the baseball lisence back and ea does the same with football that way everyone is happy. we get to play NFL2K13 and MVP Baseball 13 does anyone else agree with my proposed idea???

Re: there is hope for us 2k5 fans
If that were to go down, 2K would have to sweeten the deal substantially, given football outsells baseball by 20 to 1 if not more. If 2K tossed in several first round draft picks, along with The Boston Red Sox, both the Red Wings and Penguins AND Chris Pronger, the deed to Neverland and the publishing rights to the Beatles' early songs, plus Derek Jeter, Minka Kelly, Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba and Mariah Carey, then maybe.Comment

Re: there is hope for us 2k5 fans
Actually, people dont realize that there's lawsuits and whatnot against EA regarding the exclusive license that they have with the NFL. My friend told me this last week after he read it on a gaming site. EA hasnt improved their product, has jacked up the price and even tried to screw over the legends by including them in their game but not by name.
Also, the cases may be going to Supreme Court because thats how serious they are. It's not something that EA can just buyout. Personally, I believe it when I see it but at the same time, I wouldnt be surprised to see the NFL/EA exclusive deal get voided out by the Supreme Court.Comment

Re: there is hope for us 2k5 fans
I think it would just be interesting to see how much more effort EA would but in to Madden in 2013 if 2K was making a game. It would prove how lazy they had been the past eight years.ESPN NFL 2K5 GREATEST FOOTBALL GAME EVER!

I've got to be honest. Madden this year is looking pretty good, now not to 2k standards but i would think if they sort out some of their animations and upgrade the presentation to 2k levels that in the next couple of years that will finally have a game worthy of attention.
You have to admit they took out a ****load of features from last gen only to slowly add them back in to the game and call them "new" features. I think they would have had everything in the game much quicker if there was competition. They thought why do the extra work when there is no competition and sales are going to be effected. I feel this is the first year they made an effort to please the consumer.
I totally agree with you, it certainly wasn't a coincidence that Madden 04 and 05 are generally considered the best of the series and this is due to the fact that 2k was competing with them.
Bolded, again i agree but the only reason that this has come about (because there is still no competition) is due to the fact that their lead designer Ian Cummings has been quoted as saying that he wants to produce the best NFL game over the next couple of yrs and finally having a game that is better than 2k5.
So you have to give him kudos for that because lets be honest Madden could continue to produce average games and they would sell by the bucketload.
Praise where its due imo.Comment

Re: there is hope for us 2k5 fans
I just watched a video on the homepage of "the other football game" and the lead developer says they watched an nfl game and saw "20 things" that weren't in their game and then went on to list them- every one of them already in 2k5- coaches shaking hands, refs on the field, fans, etc. It was kind of funny actually. That being said, if all that stuff is now in their game and works correctly, that could spell the end of 2k5. I always was a bit of a pessimist though.
At least I still have my classic seasons to play.Last edited by dophin26; 07-14-2009, 12:05 AM.Comment

amen to that madden got one last chance from me last year and they blew it. i have been playing 2k5 with updated/classic rosters since 07 but i have been splitting time with madden as well. no more of that it is all 2k5 all the time
