Re: The OS Guitarists thread

Man, I love music. My favorite bands are Rise Against, Funeral for a Friend, Scary Kids Scaring Kids, and Strung Out, among others. So I'm in to that post-hardcore and punk-rock type of stuff.

Problem is, I never got into actually playing music. Outside of the standard issue recorder they made us play hot-cross-sponge on in like 3rd grade, I haven't touched a real instrument.

Recently, the fire of wanting to play music has gotten hotter. I recently decided that in the near future, I'm going to invest in an electric guitar and start playing music. The idea is to do it for my own enjoyment and to show family and friends, but if it takes me places, I'm all for that too.

The problem is I don't know anything about it. I've read this thread and don't know any of the terms, what's a good beginning guitar (affordable, but not a cheapo that won't be worth it), or pretty much how anything works. I'm completely clueless.

So that's where you guys come in. Advice, links to websites, anything to help me get started on playing an electric guitar. It will all be appreciated very much!
