Ncaa 10 - Why is ea selling functions that should be in the game.

I just went through most of the modes on ncaa 10 and ea trys to sell you something on every mode. Start a franchise and your offered the opportunity to buy a pipeline state, then theres the recruit advisor. Both of these "cheats" can be used in online dynasties even though it creates an unfair advantage for the people that don't want to or can't purshase them.

On the road to glory you can pay to be a five star recruit everytime you start the mode. Thats another 500 xbox live points. It just seems ridiculous that they give us 95% of the game and gouge us for the last 5%.

I just wonder if enough people pay then whats next, are they going to start charging for online dynasty mode.

The perfect word for it is tacky. Not my word, but it's the word that I thought fit it best. Just utterly, defenselessly tacky.

Hey we had a 20 page thread on this when it was first announced.

All of these items can be obtained by playing the game, these shorcuts are just offered for the more casual crowd. They are also making it an option in Online Dynasties to not allow the PDLC. So it won't be a problem online if that's what you are worried about.

It's just that at EVERY TURN the money grubbing continues mmorg. I know that these things can be gained by playing the through the game. But for instance, you advance to the offseason. POPUP - HEY wanna give us some money to open all the promises LOL?????

        NO I don't!

I was worried before I had the game, but it's much, much worse than I imagined it would be.

That is one of the major issues with even venturing down this path, you offer someone the ability to skip ahead but you also offer the option to turn off that cheat. So if 90% of online dynasties turn off the ability to use the cheat then what did they really pay for.

I haven't tried to start an online dynasty yet so i hadn't seen the option to turn off the recuiting helpers. I posted based on my shock after my first time playing the game, i'll try to find the old post.

I just advanced to Training portion of the offseason.

            POPUP:

"Getting your players to gain attribute points in the offseason in Dynasty mode can be hard for lower prestige schoosls. This item will allow a team with lower prestige to train their players like one of the top schools in the nation.... blah blah blah"

At every turn you're ignoring these popups. Sadly, it might be worth it to buy all the dynasty accelerators just to get away from these ads!

Does it really pop up in your face? I haven't noticed that, nor have I ventured that far into Dynasty yet. I have only seen it in menus.

Well you don't have to buy these boosters. EA isn't forcing this on anybody but the option is there. I am really not defending their decision to do it as I think it is useless too but I don't see it as a problem. I'm not going to buy them and the Online Dynasties I play in won't use them either so I won't even interact with the boosters. It's a non-issue with me because I have the choice to not use them and for my competitors to not use them.

Is called a business....Video games back then had just a game no option for dowloading rosters or getting weekly roster updates and patches left and right

People seem to think that video game companies or any company for that matter have to always give and give and expect that to be the norm

If you were the head of EA or any other company that sold something that was high on demand...You would not just give things away without seeing if you can make money out of it

                  Is called running a business...

They left it there for anybody willing to do the work...For Free

They gave it as a fast service for those willing to pony up

I see nothing wrong with that because I work in business and my companies motto is make money....

I am shocked that these companies do not charge for roster updates

Just because you have some that will moan...Does not mean a higher percentage would not pony up to get them therefore making more money for the company

Hey you reserve your right to stick up for money grubbing. I reserve my right to "moan." (nice choice of words)

And one thing I don't think you understand... Is that these things aren't necessarily gained by playing the game. Recruiting advisor? It's year 2 and I don't have access to THAT yet. There's certainly nothing that tells you what you have to do to get it. Recruit Reports? Same thing. Don't have access to those after playing through a season.

FYI Fellas: I created an OD and there isn't any way to turn off the dynasty accelerators, and I'm sure there's no way to tell who is using them... So cheaters rejoice

I am not sticking up for them...But I see how things work...

Bottom line is that the more cramped into a game in the future the more people will pay...that is just the way things are..

Look at games like call of duty and halo and any great shooter that sells big

How do you gain on hot items...by coming up with ways to make more money

Maps come out like a few times for every shooter....They charge you for them...

People say that they should be in the game already...

And I ask...Why? if it sells and makes more money why would they include all in a retail price when xbox live and psn drives the big shares and they know more people will pony up then those that will be upset

You guys think is bad now...Wait for the near future...

EA should hire you to help with their post-sale panhandling efforts, hehehe. Maybe you could come up with something even more grating than constant popups that beg for MS points. Make a career of it

LOL...Hey I would not want to pay for anything either...

But my point is that I understand how a business works...that is all I am saying...

If shooters did not make money for downloadable maps then they would not be there to download..

but you can tell they make good money out of it based on the fact that they release like 2-3 map packs per game every time

remember the nintendo days and genesis days....We had to dea with no patch and no map packs and no roster updates and it was all for 50 bucks

the console gets better and therefore the games get better and therefore the price per game goes up to 60

If Halo or KIll Zone came out next week and said...

We will have new uniforms and weapons along with more new maps for online and it will cost you 10 bucks..

There would be an outrage on the forums...but I bet you they will still sell like hotcakes...no?

That's the problem. If people (idiot kids) stopped buying this crap, they wouldnt have a market for it.

I can see an argument for whining about popup ads in a game we've already spent 60 bucks for. There should be, at the very least, an option to turn the nags off.

Pretty soon they're going to have an option to just buy the end of games, so they don't even have to be played.

They will never stop....Because people always want something new and are willing to spend
