Re: thank you Ian and the rest of the Madden Team
I dont thank many people for doing the job they get paid for.
Im thankful that Ian and Co. went to the lengths they did to keep M10 transparent. No doubt they set a new standard in community interaction by doing that. I hope that it not only continues, but other gaming companies take note.
With that said, the game is a disappointment and seemingly broken. The worst part about this is that EA set standards all by themselves that up until now they haven't came close to living up to. From wanting to "shut 2k fans up" or even "procedural awareness" its just too much for me to ignore the Developer Series that literary lie to my face.
Just as you say in your post, many gamers are now older (mid to late 20's). I think if nothing else that should command a bit more respect in marketing. I know the game has to have gimmicks and tag lines to sell, but to fall completely short of them is not acceptable.
At any point they could have came clean about the flaws in this game and the eagerness to fix it. Ask us to bear with them and know that we all understood Ian walked into somebody elses' mess. EA set the standard for themselves "If you see it on Sunday". Nobody but them made that and they need to be held to it by themselves more than anybody else. EDIT If they cant live up to that motto, fix current issues in the game, it does nothing but show they have no pride in the product. I wouldn't stop short of saying it also proves they have no respect for the consumers they have. I have said this in other posts but its worth saying again. Once they have seen issues first hand I don't think "Any extra time we spend on M10 takes away from M11" rhetoric should be accepted by the most diehard fan or harsh critic.
