Forgot to mention that I agree the shooting percentages are REALLY high, which happened last in year's demo too. This can be fixed with sliders. I know with the way you guys go all out with sliders, this can be one of, if not the best, basketball games ever. I can't wait to see how in depth you guys go with this game.

I tried the same thing with Live 10 last night, except with the Alley-Oop button.

For two games I tried to throw and alley each play down. I would say 95% of them either missed the intended target altogether or the player caught the ball and laid it up. I only saw 2 dunks.

I say that to say this...

I haven't been able to abuse any moves in Live yet, which is a plus. I was really hoping for the same with 2K this year...

Please post any more abuse-able (if that's a word...lol) moves that you find. Thanks.

Big fat meh from me... doesn't help that there's no difficulty or slider adjustment available -- playing Live on Pro isn't a great experience, but it was a lot better than this. Oops are far too easy, I started out my 2nd game with 3 in a row just to see if I could do it.. they fly out of nowhere and finish strong. Shard threw a few down haha, just made me laugh seeing him be so athletic.

Anyway, it has the same skatey offensive movement as before, when you do a move and there's a defender in front of you stopping the animation, you just skate in place. The AI is pretty brainless on defense, but especially on the break. The help defense is pretty much non-existent on this difficulty level and you can just blow right past them and on the off-chance that they actually rotate, they don't recover to their man when you make the pass... easy jumper. Just really disappointed with how it plays...

The only real positives I noticed are that paint shots are a slightly lower % (still didn't stop me and the CPU from both shooting 60%+ in basically every game), there are less dunks in traffic, and the blocking feels a little more responsive than 2K9. Without the commentary and new modes, it felt pretty shallow to me. Again, it's a demo on low difficulty and without most of its features including playcalling, but I was very disappointed with the core mechanics. I'll give the full game a chance, but probably after the 1st patch comes out and I can find it used.

These oops though... the second you see someone cutting, you can lob it right to them... on the break it's totally automatic, and it doesn't seem to matter much who's throwing or catching it regardless of situation. I only had 2 or 3 in my 15 or so games miss, and I was throwing them like crazy just to see what it let me get away with... got 5 or 6 a game easily.

I liked the demo, but that's all it is, just a demo. For the ppl saying, "the shot %'s are too high", this demo wasn't made for you. It was made for the casual gamer who, want to see his shot go in most of the time. Most demos are on easy/rookie or pro. If it's too hard from the start, the casual gamer doesn't want it.

The only thing that annoys me is defensive assist, and Pared said there was a slider for that. Problem solved. Now most ppl wanted this game to be different than 2K9, now it feels different to me. But now ppl says, it feels total different, I'm going to Live. Then please go.

BTW, I hit Vince with a nice fastbreak oop over Artest. It was beautiful.

I just had a ZOMG moment. The opposing team was shooting a free throw (orlando) and the crowd got into it. They were yelling "you're gonna miss it" and making weird sounds and you can hear the thunder sticks loud and clear. Sold.

Has anyone figured out how to make the inbounder roll a longer "walk the dog" inbound?? He keeps rolling it to about the FT line and it stops rolling.

I know people are complaining about shooting percentages....I too was scorched for 85% shooting when i 1st tried the demo....Idk what level its on but I think once people figure out the D in this game it should drop. I did have a good quarter where I held the cpu down....they did go on a mini-run toward the last minute...but D in this game will take some time to get down. Once we have all of our strategic options things will change.

This is on by default. Can you turn it off in the demo?

probably, it was turned on so VC gave a double team. matters would be fine if it was turned off, as the user wishes.

I would otherwise agree with you...

HOWEVER...

These are habitual problems that NBA 2K has had for a few years now. The shot percentages have always been a tad on the hiogh side and, as Pared said, you have to play almost stellar D to keep them even close to reasonable.

Great defense should have your opponents shooting around 35 to 40% for an entire game.

I find myself playing great D just to keep them sub 50%.

The game feels fresh and different to me also. I do not know what game some others are claiming they played. It is a lot better than the draft combine and 2k9 just from this demo alone. I cannot wait for next tuesday. WOW.


Exactly. Kobe came in and did some serious motion capture for 2k. So, if you don't his shot, blame it on Kobe - LOL!!! Tell Kobe he has his shot wrong.


Zoneblitz this is funny what you said. I can see osers telling kobe to shoot his jumper correctly because he shoots his shots wrong. LOL

Im with u on that. I just had a little argument with my boy about the demo. He played it one time and said it was the same thing, but he kept playing it and started noticing a lot of new fitures. Like when u are garding the oponent you start loosing stamina if u hold the left trigger to long or when u press the turbo button your energy starts going low too. I dont understand people sometimes, the gameplay in 2k whas never wrong it just needed some tweeks.

For everyone that feels that the controls are restrictive, I wouldn't sweat it. The controls in the 2K9 Demo last year didn't feel that great either. But when I got the actual game I felt much more freedom in what I could do on the court. So 2K10 (the actual game) should feel better than this demo.

Besides, with a demo this small and (free) you can't really expect it to resemble the actual game.

I think different people interpret the term "gameplay" different ways...

IMO, gameplay encompasses a formidable AI, clean controls, and presentation (graphics, sounds, colors, etc.)

I think 2K always falls short in the AI dept. Sure the animations are smooth, the crowds are nice, and the modes are deep, but...

I never quit feel like the AI is organic enough. It feels too hard coded and isn't intuitive enough.

I'm pretty sure it's controllable somehow. Perhaps tapping something makes it go longer. I've always meant to try it but so many questions it always slipped my mind.

A button picks up the ball. you may be able to tap something else to spin it out further...

At least I would hope.
