Does it say it will be out on April 18th? is it earlier than last year?

This is awesome. Just earlier today I was wondering when we'd hear about the new one...and for the PSP too! Sweet! Gonna definitely get it the PS3 and PSP. Every year this game improves. With the exception of PYS5 on PS3, there's never really been a step backwards.

LOL, I mistook that kanji for a number 8! Do you think that by changing the title from a sequential number to a year this implies major changes to the game? Can you read japanese, I'd like to know if there's some sort of a fact sheet on konami's site?

Here's a fact sheet, poorly translated by Google: LINK.

From what I can make of it (the translation, that is... I don't read Japanese) these are new:

            -The difficulty adjusts to you???
            -More commands for coach mode???
            -New mode called "Grand Prix"

Thanks, in one of the pictures I've noticed a spectator walking down the aisle, we might have dynamic crowd.

Re: Pro Yakyu Spirits 2010 pre-release thread

I agree that the PYS game is great and is the best baseball game on the market, gameplay-wise. And, since gameplay is pretty solid, hopefully they worked on a few little things to make the game better like:

                - adding new animations (so many were recycled between 5 and 6)

                - having better stat overlays (season stats and in game stats don't show up as much in 6 as 5)

                - fixing a few batting stances (Like Kyojin's Matsumoto)

                - adding additional commentary

                - updating fan chants and songs (many I heard this past summer in Japan are not in the game)

                - showing close ups of fans (they look great but the only time it gets close is one or two scoreboard videos)

                - having real pictures on roster pages like they did for Japan's WBC team in PYS6 (instead of the cartoonish ones they have now)

                - establishing a free agent pool so released players don't
just disappear and so you have some other guys to pick from to round out your team during the season

                - adding ability (requirement) to warm up pitchers...not only do I not like having to warm up pitchers, I also don't like when they have a cut scene of guys warming up when those aren't the pitchers I plan to put in the game.

                - adding more injuries...they happen way too infrequently.

                - recongnizing foriegn players who have been in Japan long enough not to count against the restriction (Ramirez, Rhodes). As a stretch, maybe an option to turn off the restriction all together.

Basically, the gameplay is there. Now time for some polishing. PYS6 is a keeper due to WBC mode. But if they can fix all or most of the above, I'll pick up 2010 too.

Can't wait for the first demo video!

PY6 is solid. They should really add lots of more animations. I would pick it up if that happens

So I'm assuming you guys are all in the United States, correct?

If so where do you guys usually purchase this game and is it difficult to play without knowing japanese? I really appreciate it.

I am in Chicago, and bought last year's version of the game from the website Japan Video Games. Generally you can find postings on this site that help learn the controls in spite of the obvious language barrier. The controls are very similar to other baseball games. The game is a quality product. I like the differences between the Japanese style and the American style of the sport.

If Konami got the rights from 2K Sports and could make an MLB game, Sony would be facing a challenge. Both The Show and Pro Yakuyu Spirits are excellent games.

Not to the point of getting the most out of the game though, IMO.

I did manage to get along ok but even with that the language barrier just holds back a lot of the enjoyment.
