I saw the video. Animations still don't look fluid enough. Just think about this.

The jump from Playstation 1 to Playstation 2 in terms of animations were HUGGGGGGGEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

The jump from Playstation 2 to Playstation 3/XBOX 360 were minimal in regards to animation...S*** Remember Madden 06 on XBOX 360 had the same damn animations as Playstation 2/XBOX.

Face it..Tiburon/EA jacked up Next Gen framework from the jump. Till this day I will blame David Ortiz for all of this.

I'm with ya here. I'm a defensive guy from the word go and would love nothing more than to get a blog about how they're focusing on the 3-4 defense. However I think to most people that play Madden a 50 yard touchdown pass is more rewarding than a 3 and out capped off by a 4 yard sack on 3rd down.

I don't know why anyone expects a shift in philosophy. Every yearr for probably the last 5 has been the same. There is no multi-year strategy here. It's make a game with a few improvements, patch it once or twice and then move on. The next year they make improvements but it does nothing to build off previous years. They need a business plan

Year 1 - Fix locomotion issues and AI issues
Year 2 - Work on presentation, commentary
Year 3 - Franchise (I'd rather this be year 1, but you ge t the drift).

Right now the direction only lastas for a year, then its a complete change. Last year's vision was "Everything you see on Sundays" This year its "Simpler and Quicker" How do those correlate? It's just flailing in the wind.

I desperately want to like Madden. It's alright in the visuals, but there just isn't any long term appeal to me yet. Maybe they will announce new franchise stuff, but as of this moment, it seems the appeal is to those people who want to jsut knock a game out here and there or play online.

Show some direction, show some progression (company/title wise). Develop a plan and stick with it. Ortiz got the boot because the game just went one step forward two steps backwards with lack of direction. I don't doubt the new staff wants to make a good game, but it just seems the higher ups or whoever has final say can stick to a plan, its all mass over reaction, quick fixes that end up having to be re-written in 2 years.

The thing that jumped out at me on the Brees vid was that the OTs still don't take a "jab step" and turn to form the pocket and the outside rushers still don't appear to try to get up the field and then make a move - it still looks like they engage first then try to make a move and that is really disappointing - especially after LBrulz (I think) extensive post demonstrating how that should look/feel.

Looks like to me that while OL/DL interaction may have gotten some tweaks it still won't be any where near the way it should be - just my thoughts.

The thing is that until they fix that a lot of play calls that should work based on situation will not work.

That's the thing, people have taken the time to demonstrate core issues that should be fixed. LBRulez has taken time to post in great detail and it still looks like it isn't touched. Whatever year NCAA and Madden were before the 360/PS3 came out was probably the high point. The next gen versions of these games have been awful in comparison to a 5 year old game at this point.

I honestly rememeber buying a 360 for NCAA 0X (whatever the first year was), I played it for 4-5 games, didn't like it. I rented the PS2 version, loved it, and took the 360 console and game back. I'm almost still at that point. Outside of how pretty it looks it doesnt hold a candle to the old games.

I want to say this.. When the first trailer for the show or FIFA or NHL come out does it get this same reaction? No, people go crazy.. Everyone knows the game is going to be good just by the looks of the trailer. Do people say if they changed this this this and this then the game will be good.. No. We know what we are getting with this trailer.

I don't even know what to say at this point, I really don't. I don't want hear the "it's still early in the game cycle talk". I respect the guys at EA for their hard work. I'm not a game developer, so I don't know what they have to go through to implement all the things we ask for.

What I do know is that it's a shame that a certain game is still kicking Madden's behind in the animation and fluidity department among many other things. Gimmicks, high socks, and color cleats, etc can't mask this imposter of a representation NFL Football called Madden.

At this point, it is what it is, no need to get all emotional about it. Looks like I'm back to playing that other game, the best football game ever made by the way in 2004!!!(Kanye shrug)

100% agree. This is an issue of focusing on one strategy and making it work. "Everything you see on Sunday" is a stroke of marketing genius. I guess when it didnt sell they went back to the drawing board. Big mistake. They were on the right track. I just hope that as we see more coverage and gameplay from Madden 11, that our worst fears are realized and Madden becomes an overly simplified accessible arcade football game. Keep it SIM.

Re: Madden NFL 11 Exclusive Debut Trailer

I really hate to be a debbie downer, but people had the exact same reactions after the Madden NFL 10 trailer.

The animations looked like garbage, the OL/DL interaction was non-existent, and the receivers still ran their twitchy, gliding routes.

People were pissed and complained. However, some people claimed that yadda yadda yadda it was only a teaser and there was a lot of time until release.

Guess what? Nothing changed from that teaser video until release. Hence why we needed two big ole' patches to try and fix those mistakes. Both didn't do much.

It's now been a year since Madden NFL 10 was in it's final stages and the game looks nearly the same. Cool, people can toe drag on a sideline catch finally. That was promised in, what, Madden NFL 08? Hell, chances are it won't even work properly if it's the same toe drag technology they promoted in last year's game.

The receivers still glide around pre-snap and on their routes, and the corners have to glide around to stay in position with them. Corners are constantly jerking their bodies around and running the routes before the receivers do. This means that the passing game will be unrealistic pick central once again and the ball will have no depth when throwing.

Yes, the running game does look improved. Yes, the running game will be a blast. However, the passing game still looks horrid to me. The ball is still at least 80% too big, and I'm sure this may have something to do with all of the picks.

I really am disappointed, but I'm not throwing in the towel yet. I was optimistic with Madden NFL 10 and ended up buying it, and looking back I felt like I was cheated, especially since the patches took so long and didn't even really fix anything. It's apparent that Madden NFL 11 took Madden NFL 10 and basically tried to simplify it down and make it a more casual experience when all of that energy and labor $$$ should have went to actually making the game better. Will 11 be better than 10? Sure it will, but by a small margin, just like last year, and just like the year before.

Trust me, guys. What you see now is what you're getting on August 10th, give or take a few touch ups. The game has been in development for nearly a year... can we honestly say that it will go from that to 2K animations in 2 and a half months? Sorry, it's not.
I'm a husband - and Madden 11 was my idea.

Here is my issue. I can't stand the idea that the game is going to be dumbed down for pick-up and play ease. If you need a refresher just throw in madden 92. Most of us get so good at the game in such a short period of time tiny mistakes, money plays, cheats and glitches become apparent quickly. That is the very reason Madden's evolution has led it towards a simulation based title.

When you hire a former creator of "Blitz" to help with the development of Madden you are asking for a title that lacks any more depth than a coin-op arcade game. Lets explore what a Madden arcade version would look like. Oh wait! we did that already and it sucked balls. This guy is doing all of us a huge disservice, because not only are we forced to bare witness to his improvements that basically amount to menu adjustments and control reassignments, but they are also stripping the title of its nuts. I am not interested in playing a game that benefits button mashers and money plays.

                          If the idea behind these changes is to draw more people to the title (increasing profits) I have a very strange suggestion;

                          MAKE A BETTER GAME!

Thats right! Improve the visuals, fix the glitches, add better (less narcoleptic inducing) announcers, tighter controls (less motion capture) and perhaps ever changing story lines for season play. Follow the folks from back breaker and revise tackling. How about fixing the passing system. Can i have more than Bomb, average and bullet in my passing arsenal? NOW I AM GETTING A LITTLE TICKED!

Jumping jack rabbits, they just gave us refs back. Remember people, we have naked sideline, injuries and everything associated with them are devoid of presentation. When you win the super bowl there lacks any sense of accomplishment.

I am receiving the message from EA loud and clear. We need to make money and there are enough naive people out there that we do not need loyal fans like you. You know, the kind of fan that stands outside waiting in line until midnight. The kind of fan that throws a huge 24 hour Madden party. The kind of fan that regularly buys ten copies a year and sends them to his nephews so we can all stay in touch an play vids online.

I can see how people could read this thinking i am over reacting, but I have been playing since this title appeared on apple. This is not the first time EA has delivered a crappy product to us. It is this type of behavior that brought us 2k Sports, Game Day football and Blitz. Don't get me wrong. I love Madden. I love it so much that I care what happens to it and who is involved in it.

Player animation was not pleasing to the eye.

Locomotion?? Thought that was implemented last year. (New coat of paint and what do you know a new feature. ha )

Game looks, moves, apparently plays virtually the same.

Starting with Madden 06, "Everything you see on Sunday" should've been the standard. As goofy as Madden looked last generation (and one big reason I could never take it seriously), they made an effort to add broadcast elements, although they never were able to match their competitor's level.

In this day and age, creating what is supposed to be a simulation of NFL football outside of broadcast guidelines is absurd and makes for an incomplete product.
