No need for it to be a coincidence. Jones was undecided, Kenny Payne had recruited him at Oregon but he wasn't considereing Oregon anymore but Jones liked Kenny Payne. Kentucky had been the rumored destination of Payne LONG before the Jones flip-flop. Did Payne coming to UK influence Jones? I don't know but Im sure it didn't hurt. The fact is UK & Kenny Payne were linked maybe even before the season was over & possibly last summer, but I could be mistaken about that time period. In short, Payne was not offered the job solely to obtain the commitment from T. Jones.
