Like the Crayton pick up. The wide receiver battle is still wide open IMO. Flyod is the obvious number 1 wide out but, after that anyone can take their over another players spot. Flyod isn't immune to this either but, it's highly unlikely anyone will take his roll as number 1 barring injury.

Can't wait for the season opener. Hopefully Merriman will be ready to go by then but, if not hopefully they won't rush him back in there.

I think Naanee becomes the #1 by week 4. He's more physical and better after the catch. Floyd becomes the #2 guy and Crayton takes over the slot.

VJax will never take another snap in San Diego. He's done here.

I like Naanee but, I'm not sure he can stretch the field like Flyod can. With his 6'5 frame and go up and get it style of play I'm not sure he will be unseated by anyone besides VJ. If he continues to be the best deep threat for SD(which he will be IMO) then I don't see him being beaten out of that number 1 spot.

And yeah VJ is as good as gone at this point. I think he'll be dealt soon. It's to bad VJ won't be apart of it. With hopefully a good consistent running game the passing game will be even more dangerous.

They don't need their #1 to stretch the field. They need one to make plays. Naanee I think will be a better playmaker. He's built more like Jackson and is better after the catch than both. I like Floyd, but Naanee potentially could be the better player in the long run. Floyd's role could be to be the deep guy and stretch the field, although Naanee has shown he's got that ability as well. And at 6'2 or 6'3 he's big and athletic enough to go up and get the ball as well.

All San Diego needs are a couple of guys that can catch the ball and keep SOME attention from Ryan Matthews.

Chargers should be solid this year - as if that is hard to do in the AFC West.

Excellent pickup for the Chargers here and the Cowboys really hurt themselves with this trade. Simply put, as a team with Super Bowl aspirations (Cowboys) you don't jettison a proven, veteran commodity - one with good hands, knows the offense & is pretty good at special teams - for the upside of younger players (Bryant, Hurd, Ogletree, Holley) and an afterthought draft pick. It troubles me more considering Austin & Williams haven't looked good this preseason at all. This puts a lot of pressure on those youngsters to step up and contribute right away and takes away a very good security blanket for Romo. Crayton may not be #1 material, but put him up against a #3 & #4 DB and he wins that matchup all day.

On top of that, you give an equally talented team in the Chargers - that the Cowboys simply have not been able to beat - an extra offensive weapon. This also gives the Chargers the ability to seek good trade value for Jackson, something they had no leverage with before.

Crayton has been a class act for us. This is good for him and
Dallas.. Dallas sends him to the other conference.
Crayton, gets to play for a legit contender and live in the
BEST CITY in America.. San Diego...

Had Bryant not been injured, he would have been dealt a while ago..
I can see him getting 40-50 catches 600 yards..

They are better this year than last and were more than "solid" outside of the AFC West including going 4-0 vs. the NFC East.

If anyone has watched the Chargers their success the last several years goes beyond just being a team in the AFC West.

Do you think Flyod will keep up his avg yards per catch?

The last 2 seasons he's matched his average yards per catch. His receptions doubled in 09 after taking over the number 2 receiver spot. I expect his reception numbers to double again this season. The opposing defense is going to double Gates(like that matters) and double Flyod opening it up for the younger guys to make something happen. It'll be interesting to see who steps up though so we'll see.

Me personally I'd like to see Buster Davis make a splash but, I'm not counting on it.

                        .
No. I think it may go down a bit. Their avg per catch will always be up there just based on the nature of the offense, but I suspect it will drop a little bit.

I've been waiting for Davis for a while. He has shown some flashes and he's got some after the catch ability but I remain skeptical.

Where does Crayton fit in all this? After Flyod and Naanee it's really just a throw up. I'm guessing he'll be the 3rd receiver in the slot.

Is he a good blocking receiver? Cowboy fans.

He gives them that possesion guy in the slot who can run good routes inside and make the tough catch in traffic.
