i don't think quarterbacks with super bowl rings are overrated, especially because the presence of the ring on his finger typically doesn't always validate his career.

no one thinks trent dilfer is a great quarterback or a stud. similarly, no one thinks dan marino is a slouch because he didn't win.

the problem comes if someone thinks that's all that matters, or devalues a guy because he didn't win, while not giving credit for what he did accomplish.
