Re: NCAA Football 12 Title Update #2 - Waiting on Approval From Microsoft and Sony
Would it make sense for EA to have two dev teams? They could work in rolling two year windows on some of the features. Of course, they would still have to implement the code into the previous version, but maybe have Team A work on the games that release in odd years and Team B work on even years with quarterly (?) meetings to make sure one code wont break the other.
- Year 1: add new feature(s)
- Year 2: refine new features(s) and dedicate vast majority of time on game-play only
- Year 3: Update stadiums/uniforms work on visual aspects of the game. Continue to refine the features added in year 1 AND work on game-play issues
- Year 4: FINISH the polish on all the features they added in year 1 and ensure ALL game-play issues are fixed.
THEN they could start the next cycle over by adding a list of new features...
But, NO new features are added until features work as intended, game-play is seamless and the visuals are updated(at least relatively).
I know, why can't they do this all in a single year? I keep asking myself the same thing...but its pretty clear they can't so an extended development model may be the only way to get the game on track.I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I don’t think you realize that what you heard was not entirely what I meant.Comment

It might work, but why would you buy the game in Year 1? Sounds a lot like what we get now, new features that aren't fully implemented and don't work as intended. The problem is rather than take last year (or this year for the most part) and just tweak, they try to cram in 4-6 new features next year and we just repeat the cycle.
They need to either go to a two year cycle and release an update in the off year that includes new stadiums, unis, roster update while offering tuners or just not add new features.
I'd be fine with a two year release, heck, charge $19.99 for the off year update which should include tweaks, unis, stadiums and other token features. This gives them two full years of dev time to develop and implement new features.Check out my Tampa Bay Buccaneers CFM Thread.

"Crap in a box and mark it guaranteed..." If it has EA and NCAA on the box we have proof that it will sell even if its steaming fresh.I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I don’t think you realize that what you heard was not entirely what I meant.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 12 Title Update #2 - Waiting on Approval From Microsoft and Sony
No. Two teams cost twice the money. Do you really think they would have that much more profit that way to justify that cost?
Same argument for the two-year development cycle. They'd have to pay the developers all year long anyway, so way would they release just an update for 20 bucks when they can charge more than double that for a new game anyway? It just doesn't make sense economically.
Because what many people don't think about, as much as we all love to complain about their games... in the end we all still buy them, year after year. And you can be sure that most of those who now proclaim to never buy an EA Sports game again will have forgotten about that vow when NCAA/Madden 13 come around next year. As long as they offer the only football game on the market, people will buy it, because it's football, simple as that. Only if they faced competition or saw a drastic decrease in sales would they be forced to rethink their approach, and I don't think that's about to happen. You gotta have Hope! what's really left to add?
custom schedules, check
custom conferences, check
custom sounds, check
custom playbooks, check
great online connectivity, check
basically everything you can possibly ask for is already implemented in the game.
the patch is going to address some major issues, and then probably a bunch of garbage stuff people like to get bent out of shape about.
what's to say they can't update the game game year in and year out via a patch?

Everyone knows there's issues. I just don't see the reason for people to continually post about it on here. Basically, I was saying, if you don't want the game, get ride of it and don't talk about it. If you are waiting for the patch, wait it out and post when it's out. Everyone is frustrated. I want to start my dynasty, but don't want to be in it when the patch is out. EA has taken a long time and hopefully they can learn from this. I do think it is time for them to get rid of the current NCAA engine and develop a newer, more polished engine. I didn't say it wasn't EA's fault, I'm just sick of hearing how it's EA's fault.
1) Lower your expectations, accept mediocrity, and don't complain when the inevitable happens (e.g. mediocrity becomes manifest in a product that was advertised as superb and complete).
2) Just eat the **** that people serve you or don't eat at all.
This sound about right?Comment

Re: NCAA Football 12 Title Update #2 - Waiting on Approval From Microsoft and Sony
Honestly, this is all I was saying. If you hate the game, nobody here really cares. There's some people that enjoy it, but are excited for the patch and are waiting. What good is it going to do for us to complain right now, clutter this thread, give mods headaches? Is Sony and Microsoft going to release the patch tomorrow because they see this group of people is upset over how long it's taking? Absolutely not, if you have a problem with EA, contact them directly, I don't think this is the place.
Instead of asking everyone to stop talking about it, wouldnt it be simpler for you to just stop reading the thread? Since it makes you so upset, take a break, there are plenty of other threads to read.Comment

But you hit the nail on the head. There is no other competition for this market. People would hit it off if EA didn't have a license. This is first title I've purchased new ('10 & '09 were used so significant price difference) ... and would have likely sold it if it was the full $60.
There are no other games that I own that get as much re-playability than sports titles. However, NBA2k11 & 2k10 didn't have as many blatant bugs as this title seems to have currently. Here's to hoping that the patch fixes the freezing and other issues have, because the graphics and running game is SO much better in this title than 2010.Comment
