    JaVale McGee

Nobody seems to respect JaVale or Acknowledge him when talking about good NBA Centers.

I think If he got a little more muscle on him, he could be a Dwight Howard Type player... I honestly believe with his Shot blocking and Unbelievable athleticism , He could be one of the top 5 Centers in the League in a few years..

I just wanted to know some other peoples opionion on Mr. McGee, Because Seeing as he has a Solid Foundation and a Great Point Guard , he should only improve.

    Thanks.

      Re: JaVale McGee

I think a lot of it is due to his approach toward the game. He's got the talent, and the height/athleticism.... if he wants to put it all together. He's still young, so he has time to mature into a great center. I'm looking forward to seeing him this year, to see what he's capable of.

Has potential and pretty good athleticism. His defensive awareness is pretty suspect (don't let the highlight reel blocks fool you) needs to get more muscle and a stronger base. Also needs develop something that resembles a solid post game (otherwise he'll be a clone of Noah)

He can block shots but he has no offensive skills and hasn't improved in 3 years.

He sucks plain and simple and will probably either be a bench player for the rest of his career or he'll be out of the league in no more than 5 years. And in the case where he is your team's starting C, well your team isn't very good then.

I'm gonna hold off before I say he's finished in the league. Last time I checked, you can do a lot worse than 10pts, 8rebs and 2.5 blks. He still needs time to develop; and if he's giving you that production in the meantime, I say roll with it. He's gonna get bette. Keeping a core of Wall and McGee will pay off for the Wiz.

I think he'll always have a place in the league, mainly due to his size and athleticism. He does get a lot of great blocks and finishes above the rim, but doesn't have much of an offensive game and ALWAYS goes for the block. Dude bites on every single pump fake.

He'd be fine on a team where all he has to do is block shots and rebound.

                  Re: JaVale McGee

He's fairly one dimensional, he's basically a more explosive Ben Wallace. Relatively no offensive game besides the Alley-Oop or put back dunk, and can rebound and block shots. There will always be a need for a player similar to him, but he's never going to be a superstar.

Dude is explosive, i don't think he'd ever improve as a dominant NBA Center though, maybe this lockout will do him good? Get in the gym man. He'd be a great backup Center if on a more elite team.

So it looks like the common accepted theory is that He will never be a very good starting center?

Wow, I am way off then. I guess we'll see when this stupid lockout is over.

I believe that he could be a starting center on a lot of teams, but only because the center position is very weak he could start in Minny, Wizards, Charlotte, Detroit, Rockets, Cavs, GSW, NYK - Assuming Amare doesn't play center, Portland - Assuming Oden is hurt, Toronto.
These are many teams he could start in.
In my opinion, he won't develop a lot, he rebounds blocks scores off of alley-hoops and put back dunks which is enough as a role player imo.

                          Re: JaVale McGee

The problem is between his ears. He doesn't think of himself as a center, he thinks he's a great basketball player. So he doesn't really have any post moves and he definitely doesn't have a game facing the basket but seems his approach is more as a SF than a C. He's also just not very smart, thinks he's better than he is and doesn't appear to have a great work ethic.

For him to be any good I think he'd need to be traded to a team where his current level would make him the 10th or 11th man. Maybe he gets humbled a bit and there are some leaders around him that can smack him around and/or he can get advice from.

Intellectually he is lacking. He's a player that has always relied on his athleticism and it puts him in a lot of bad spots. He's horrible on rotations and good post players go right through his chest because his lower body is so weak he constantly gives up good position. His athleticism will ensure a spot in the league but he's not starter quality on a good team.

                              Mrs McGee,
Thanks for taking the time to post here on OS. I'm sure you are very proud on your son but there is NO WAY he will every be as good as Dwight Howard. He can continue to be a good role player for many years to come thanks to the void at center in the NBA but that's about it.
Make sure he takes some of his next contract to buy you a Big House for all the nice things you say about him.
