Scott... Do you plan on editing all the offenses in your franchise using this calculator? Also how drastic were ratings from the calculator to The Show's ratings?Last edited by The Kid 24; 04-09-2012, 04:18 PM.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment

They weren't real drastic. Yes, once V3 comes out with pitch edits, i plan on using this system.PSN-Shugarooo

Re: Made my own ratings calculator
These look pretty good, i have a couple question though. 1st, are con vs. righty and con vs. lefty treated the same. what i mean is, if you have a guy who hits .270 vs lefties and .270 vs righties in the same year, he will have exactly the same rating for con vs. left and vs. right correct? (this is a hypothetical situation)
also, i see that you use RISP for clutch, that is good to see. My question is do you take into account their normal batting average. Because clutch is a MODIFIER so if you just did their avg. w/ RISP then it will be slightly misleading. This is because, lets say a guy hits .330 w/o RISP but hits .300 w/ RISP, he shouldn't have a good clutch rating in game, since it modifies his ratings. he would have high contact but low clutch. Is that how your system works, or would he have high contact and pretty high clutch too? (sorry if that sounds confusing)Comment

But that's also an Advanced Batting stat that would have to added for every person.PSN-Shugarooo

Re: Made my own ratings calculator
It has been established that Clutch is simply AVG RISP and other factors like stolen bases and 3B/2B ratio factor into RC.Comment

Re: Made my own ratings calculator
Yeah I do believe so...My last simulation I had just 6 players hit 36+ HRs...and just 9 players hit over 100+ RBIs. (AL ONLY).
I think if there is someway we can implement Baserunning (BR/BA), Durability (which I have a formula for), and Fielding (Arm Str/Arm Acc/Fielding Ability), it would be perfect.
Edit: There's already a spot in the spreadsheets for Games, just wasn't filled in. If that gets filled in, all you need is a formula that reads (GP/162)*100. Though BR & BA is more difficult to get implemented.Last edited by DeathMetal; 04-09-2012, 06:35 PM.Comment

Re: Made my own ratings calculator
I've never even heard of ZiPS before, heh. I'll look into it.
I actually implemented that exact formula the other night. Of course it will take a while to get that info into the databases for the auto calculator, but for the time being the manual calculator can be used if you don't mind a bit of stat searching on the internet. I'll upload the newest version now.PSN-Shugarooo

Re: Made my own ratings calculator
Okay, I'll PM you my email. As for fielding and baserunning, I haven't really worked on it yet, and that is more information that I would have to add into the player databases.Comment

Re: Made my own ratings calculator
That's true, baserunning and fielding could probably be left alone. I'll send you the file but the format we have now is probably the best one, and it's generating realistic results.PSN-Shugarooo
