Clemson Defense 91. WVU Offense 91

Clemson's defense is rated 91 in the E3 build of NCAA 13.

WVU's offense, which returns almost everyone from last year (including top 3 receivers, quarterback, top 4 rushers, 4 OL) is rated 91.

Because 70 points don't really matter I guess.

Still really excited for the game, just found this funny.

as a clemson fan, they have gotten better in defense in the offseason. 7 returning starters and new (fairly well) defensive coordinator. but i do realize that WVU's offense is really good. wonder why there isnt a good difference between the ratings

For clarity, I'm not saying Clemson should be a 14 on defense.

I'm just saying that Clemson being 90s in defense is a bit absurd. WVU being low 90s is a stretch. But both of those things coexisting is just wrong.

They don't make ratings based on one game a team played against someone.

And me being a WVU fan, I think that our offense could be a few points higher in rating. I think 91 defense for Clemson is a bit high, but I'm in no way here to bash you guys. I can't base my thoughts off of one game, whether that's the way they were all season or not, I couldn't tell you because I don't follow them.

Clemson's defense last year ranked 65th in yards and 71st in scoring. That is profoundly average, so unless you want to say 91 out of 99 is average, it's too high, even if it improves. And for every West Virginia they played, they played a Maryland or someone like that.

That's why people make rosters with complete re-rates.

I don't think ratings are based on stats. I think its more so based on depth of talent.

oh ya clearly wvu's offense is better than clemsons defense. its just that EA may take account of what clemson has potential for this season. yet again im not saying they should low 90s. i see them as a mid to high 80s

So Clemson's defense has equal potential of a WVU offense that returns all but a lineman or two from a 70 point game? Again, my point remains.

I don't think even if you take the horrendous 70 point game away Clemson is no feared 90 defense....

I think EA actually just enters their ratings into a randomizer that just spits out random ratings for teams. There's really no way to explain some of these ratings we get each and every year. I mean, LSU's offense is an A+ for crying out loud and so is Bama's!

And don't give me some BS about how LSU scored X points per game, as their defense usually either outright scored those points or set the offense up with a short field (just look at the SEC Championship Game vs. Georgia for a prime example).

Clemson was 81st in the country in scoring defense last year at 29.3 PPG, LOL...

Let us examine their last eight games of the 2011 season. They gave up...

                              45 @ Maryland
                              38 vs. UNC
                              31 @ Georgia Tech
                              28 vs. Wake Forest
                              37 @ NC State
                              34 @ South Carolina
10 vs. Virginia Tech (ACC Championship Game)
70 vs. West Virginia (Orange Bowl)

Just 36.6 points given up per game. That's one MIGHTY defense!!!

They also gave up 27 points to Wofford earlier in the year in their thrilling 35-28 barn-burner against the Terriers.
