Everyone not interested in madden don't purchase this year was looking like another skip year also. I don't roster edit but I do enjoy using different rosters from other people until i find one I enjoy. Anything from EA is no longer 1st day purchase anymore. I do want to see how this new career mode will play out. However EA isn't breaking new ground with the rpg element. NBA 2k/The Show had it for it a while along with the experience points to upgrade attributes you get cash to purchase new abilites. I'll rent and try demo whenever it releases. If it gets great reveiws i will buy it. Good reviews maybe a Black Friday purchase. Bad reviews no purchase at all. I am a die hard football fan and need my virtual fix but want toss out 60 dollars for an average product that has been lagging behind other Major sports titles. I will wait until the game is out before i give praises if its good or none if its bad. -
Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
I will say this, I find it interesting how Madden seems to get away with removing so many things that the game once had. I mean, in my experience you are constantly trying to build on top of previous releases. Taking features away is a pretty big no-no. However, it's easier to do when you don't have to worry about the competitor doing it. Remember in 2004 when EA did not have online leagues for madden? A month after 2k announced their full support for it, magically Madden had them shortly after. They scrambled to do it. You can do whatever you want when you are the only one making the games.
Personally, I don't care about the edits because I don't have OCD when it comes to retired numbers -- I mean, I wish it didn't happen but I can live with it.
From the outside looking in, if they had to take away features to make this work, why not hold off a year to at least keep most of the editing features in?
I hate to say it but it seems like they needed a 'gimmick' to go along with the new engine. Thats what it seems to boil down to.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
Actually, it's simple if you believe their explanation. Editing isn't in the game because they didn't have time to include it. So for this year, we're limited to using EA's downloaded rosters. That's why. Not that I necessarily believe their excuse...I'm still standing by my question....
What makes Donny moores rosters SO magical that HE can edit rosters that CAN be used in CCM and we can't?
It's the EXACT SAME THING! He will be changing ratings, equipment and numbers.... Just like we want to. It's the same thing, ZERO difference.
I just don't get it.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
THIS...times ONE MILLION.After some discussion, we agreed that Franchise mode is yours to control and that we needed to give you the ability to edit the ratings of any player in Franchise mode, whether they are veterans or the rookies you just imported from NCAA Football.
If you want some QB you imported to be an 85 overall because you won the Heisman with him, you’re welcome to edit him to be that high. It’s all up to you" - Josh Looman EA Blog Madden 12
And I doubt that Looman would have said THIS if it were just 1%. Question is, why take it away from us?
No more little snide remarks as to why we are upset so it looks cool to your friends...no more "headscratching" or trying to talk down upon us. We think how we think based on the FACTS. The facts state that Looman said this was to be their focus for us, and now, we find it was all pretty much BS. If you still "don't get it," then you never will.I'm still playing NCAA 14 and Madden 25...and you know, it's alright.

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
This is the response I was waiting for since last week... thanks!
Like I said, I can see how editing position and ratings could cause problems to a new mode like CC since I played Head Coach. But numbers, equipment and names it´s hard to agree.
I hope they can find a way to unlock at least the last 3 to make the transition for the ones who care about this stuff less painful...
- Give people the freedom to edit anything(and use it) before the start of a CC;
- Give people the freedom to edit equipment, numbers and names after they start a CC. Well, they can even block names
Is that reasonable?Last edited by DMorganU44; 06-12-2012, 12:24 PM.Comment

great point, i'm so tired of seein this, reggie bush rated in the eighties when he's a complete bust, in fifa and nhl, your team mvp is usually only rated like a high 88, unless ea is goin out on a limb and sayin the guys they're rating 99 are the best of all team they should be low 90's, 99's should be reserved for players that are the best of all time, i love calvin johnson but there's no way he's earned a 99 overall and i'd bet anything he'll be right on top on those ratingsComment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
I enjoy "disassembling and reassembling" the game as much as playing it...
That's why I'm on OS as much as I have been for a decade...
Rosters, Draft Classes, Sliders, Coach Options, Sim Engine, Priorities, are all examples of the customization that we've become accustomed to over the years...
To remove the majority of USER options takes away TOO much of what I consider the "Fun"...
Oh well, I will treat this like a new title and give it the chance to engage me, but simple "playing" my franchises games may not be nearly enough to draw me in to the level of immersion I have enjoyed previously...
We shall see...
Come to think of it, I don't think I've used a roster made by a developer in ANY sports title since I found this site...

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
I'm not telling you to not be disappointed or to not complain about missing features. I don't edit rosters, I don't use NCAA draft classes and for the most part I don't control more then one team in a franchise. I use to like playing a franchise where I played a different team each week which seems impossible.I think that many people are taking the dejected comments to mean that they don't like CC at ALL. That's not the case (at least not with me). I think many were EXTREMELY stoked by the news, and the revelation of RTP (I know I was, and I've been banned from playing any EA game online for 3 years). Many of us that can't play online for whatever reason had grown accustomed to making the game "more playable" by updating the rosters on our own, making our offline only franchises closely resemble what is happening at that current time, and fixing little mistakes the devs themselves overlooked or deemed "insignificant" (player numbers, names, uniform gaffes). The new additions can not and should not be scoffed at, but where does that leave the online deficient? Maybe CC and RTP would have been enough [for us] if only they had left us offline players some flexibility to play the game how we want (with at least the ability to edit within our offline CC), now we can only play the game the way it is programmed.
You can try the game and not like it. You can not try the game based on what it is missing that is entirely up to you and everyone else who is bothered by the things missing.
I haven't played it so I really can't form an opinion one way or the other on whether it is good.
However I can say they tried something new. I think some of you need to look up the word innovative.

That's the definition. No where does it say new ideas that are successful. So yes I feel I can say the new mode is innovative because by definition it is.<a href="http://www.operationsports.com/Danimal/blog/6756-going-old-school-v1/">Read my blog Going Old School v1 GridIron! football.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
I don't have an answer to that, but I will try and get you one by the end of the day.Casey, Ryno, have they said whether some of the generated features (assigned numbers & equipment for new players) will work better this year? Have they said they have dedicated more resources to make this area work better this year since there is no editing?
Since there is no editing, I would have thought they would at least discuss those aspects being improved and worked on in the new CCM. By not saying anything, all we have to go by is their track record of it not working well in the past. I get that it is a new mode, but I would have expected a mention of it being tweaked in the new mode somewhere along the line (blogs or E3 videos). Did they work on improving this area at all?Comment

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
But to be fair there are some faulty logic in this. The "complainers" complaining about say 32 team control are justified why?? Because it is confirmed not to be in it? But why do posters feel the need to have 32 team controll? Probably AI logic and so forth, but guess what that is assumption there that it wasn't fixed. So they have bits and pieces and are building arguments off of assumptions just as much as the other side. What if the ratings are perfect, what good is the ability to change ratings then? this goes on and on that no matter the side your on you are going to have to make assumptions to take a stance, because there aren't enough facts out there till the game is actually out. Here is my issue:
I see a TON of people in this forum saying "CCM is great" "Its so innovative" etc but hardly any of you have actually seen or played this mode. You are all going off of blogs and impressions by Game Changers. Even the GCs only saw a offline version of this mode in May. So what exactly are you basing this optimism on?
On the other hand, we have several people who are down on the mode. The difference is they have legitimate reasons to be down on the mode. They have confirmed that there is no editing, no multi team franchise, no NCAA import and very limited control over rosters. These things have been confirmed. But all I hear is "Give the mode a chance" "You wanted improvements and now you are complaining" "You are complaining before actually playing the mode".
The people who are down on the game are actually more justified with their complaints than the people who are positive right now. Why? Because the complainers know that key components of the game (to them) are missing. The praisers of the mode are going off of blogs and impressions (pretty much EA advertisements because of who they are coming from) to base their excitement.
I'm not gonna knock any one who is excited about this mode. I hope just as you do that the mode is going to be bug free and have intelligent AI. But dont knock me for being skeptical based on the Madden team's track record and the missing features.
So both sides are in the same boat so if being positive is wrong because there are no facts then the other side is in the same boat also.Comment

My answer to that is go ask Steve Noah, Dustin Toms, and MMChris. If they tell you it sucks... believe it. Those are "your Guys"Here is my issue:

Re: Madden NFL 13 Roster Editing Issue Rears Its Ugly Head
Originally posted by mm boostI just wished EA, at the very LEAST, would open up equipment and number editing. I would be EXTREMELY pleased with those 2 aspects alone. I don't need ratings changes, I don't need position changes...nothing else. Just let me change helmets, cleats, gloves, wrist tape, etc. to the players and change their numbers, and I would be a happy camper. Why can't we at least have these, EA?
Maybe If they can sneak name change in there tooComment

its hard to listen to you complain because your obviously clueless! connected careers w/ a coach is franchise mode, if you do it w/ a player its superstar mode! C'mon man!Comment

whoa, whoa... were'd that come from...I was agreeing with you on some level and simply pointing out that the majority of the poster in this post haven't knocked the new CC... excuse me if I got under your skin, it was unintentional I assure you.I'm not telling you to not be disappointed or to not complain about missing features.
