    Me too, man.
Hope there are more teams this year, if possible.
And please, 2k, let us trade players the way we want without having to buy DLC.

I would guess September since that is when they are announcing game modes but you have to figure something will come out next week announcement wise, which is still August so idk.

I highly doubt there will be any classic teams. Usually when they're quite about it, it most likely isn't in the game. Also, they said they'll focus more on current players so...things all add up.

If there are no classic teams and no crew mode (been quiet on this as well) then this board will have a massive melt down of epic proportions when those two exclusions come down from 2k.

I hope both are in since so many people enjoy them, but watching the melt down on here would be worth the price of admission though, hate to say that but it is true.

The crew folks have been a little crazy on this forum as of late. On one hand, I scoff at their immaturity but on the other, I know I would be equally displeased if 2K were to remove classic teams (though I'm not sure I'd respond in a manner that would equal the child-like nature of many of those seeking crew).

If classic teams were removed, which judging from the achievement list and MJ screenshot appearance they have not, but if they were at some point removed somewhere down the line, I'd probably still buy NBA 2K, but very begrudgingly. Meaning, I'd probably shake my fist at the sky every so often, probably while the game was loading up, cursing the 2K overlords.

If 2K removed the classic teams it would not be a wise move. I know they wanna go back to focusing on the current NBA and future stars but the Classic Teams and Legends is the best stuff about 2K the last few years and add a lot more to the game than just use current teams in Association, Season etc. But if they do remove it I will join you in shaking my fist when the game loads.

My fear of no classic teams is what has me keeping 2K12. Even if there are classic teams, it sounds like Pippen is not yet confirmed for the Dream Team (maybe he could be a late signing like LaPhonso Ellis last year). If Pippen isn't in it, and there are classic teams I'd still keep 2K12 in that case. We're getting to the point of no return on trading it in anyway, in my opinion ... If we're not there, yet.

Re: When will we finally hear about classic teams/legends mode in 2k13?

The achievement for historic teams being used online not only indicates that there will be classic teams in game but also makes me think they are upgrading our classic experience. We couldn't bring legends online in 2k12 and now it looks like we can. The legends DLC was pretty successful and I think 2k knows there is a strong following for classic teams and legends (just look at the roster boards and PB's following). Just my opinion but I feel the inclusion of classic teams in the online experience is a very good sign that classic teams are in and in a big way.

Last year the whole focus was on classic teams and legends and the game was successful. I don't see 2k switching gears now. Its been a steady build up since 2k11 and the Dream Team being in is a good sign too. Also remember, MJ was signed for 3 yrs and this is the third title. I would bet they keep re-upping the contract but if they didnt, you have to think they will go all out this year.

Time will tell. I for one would skip 2k13 no matter how good it is if there are no classic teams. I'd have to wait and see what guys like PB, mkharsh or ddel do before purchasing. New jack NBA just doesn't do it for me.

I still think the best solution would be for 2k to develop a "Hardwood Classics" or "NBA's Greatest" title as a stand alone game. Filters, era specific gameplay styles and animations...man that could be amazing.

As others have said, the achievement list appears to confirm there will in fact be classic teams. Though, as you said, Scottie Pippen will be at least one of the players missing from the fold.

Regarding trading 2K's, I tend to hang onto them anyway. It's actually a fun retro flashback to go back in time and play any of the previous versions spanning between 2K2 and 2K12. It's a neat collection to build.

I agree with you on everything except the bolded. Barring something catastrophic, I'll be picking up NBA 2K13 one way or another (as well as future editions, even if they're classic-less). As I mentioned in another thread, I'd be quite disgruntled if classic teams ever evaporated from the series, but I like current players too, so I'd at least be able to enjoy the modern era (though there'd be a classic-sized hole in my heart).

I'm also not sure I'd want a separate game altogether. 2K seemed to be able to squeeze a lot of content into one disc. Hundreds of classic players, dozens of classic teams, and nearly just as many classic courts on top of all the present day inclusions. As it stands now, it's the best of both worlds and an ultimate gaming experience. Splitting things in two would only seem to complicate matters, not to mention it doesn't seem like the most financially sound decision 2K could make as a company. It'd be like Domino's Pizza splitting and creating a Bread Stick store instead of just offering both pizza and sticks at the same location.

Everything else you said outside of the bolded sounds on point. I also hope you're right about 2K improving their classics, even if they're not a focal point.

Oh when I said best solution I didn't mean for 2k... I meant for me! HA!

I agree it would complicate things and the amount they can cram onto a disc these days is amazing but man would I love a full on Hardwood Classics game. Spend all the cash you have on as many classic teams as possible. Alas, it is a pipe dream so we just have to settle for the outstanding classic mode we have been treated to these past few iterations.

VDusen, you are a better man than me. Ever since the PB and Mkharsh rosters from 2k11 surfaced I haven't played a single game with current NBA teams. It would ruin things for me if there were no classic players at all. Maybe I'm just spoiled but those classic teams are a blast. I'll take dropping 35 with Alex English over KD all day!

The gameplay improvements look amazing though and the points in my previous post make me cautiously optimistic that we will see the best Classic effort to date.
