(PC) Welp - I have done it again. Realistic Game Play.

Welp. I've done it. Last time I globally edited anything for game play was for PES 4/WE7 (http://www.soccergaming.com/forums/s...d.php?t=100276)

On the PC - with the PES Editor 13. I have globally edited only 3 attributes.

1. Pressing (All Teams) to 100
2. Compactness (All Teams) to 100 ( = Wide )
3. Attack (All Players) to value of "1"
4. Defensive Line to value of "100" ( = High)

The result? Absolute bliss of a game. FINALLY!!

Pressing is spot on, meaning the pressure is there from all sides - just how we see on TV. There is still time to pass, and build. You will be rewarded for building - but can also get away with a sideline through ball. The CPU plays like a human. They will take advantage of mistakes - be aggressive in tackles - and build up from side to side or forward to back. What is nice is that the CPU still keeps its authenticity in attacking style, as that is untouched.

Compactness is a big one. It was the missing piece. If you notice how wide open the sidelines are for through balls and easy passes? Notice how the CPU sprints backwards after they lose possession in your defensive third (basically giving up and "retreating") - compactness + pressing is the culprit. They are too conservative - and then when they attack, they had no time to build up, that is why it is so easy to come back and attack.

The game turns into a end to end match - with no sense of true representation of the sport we watch/play.

ATTACK value for individual players. This is the most important. I placed them all on "0" because I know in ML there will be progression - at least I hope ML doesn't make them increase by 50-100

All Teams - Defensive Line = 100 (high)
PES 13 by default seems to have a high line, but leaves a lot of gaps open. What I thought this would do was increase the priority to stop the attack early on, so "high" as in "high priority". It seems to have done the trick - but I think it will work best with the next change:

Eitherway - what this does is remarkable. I thought for sure it would result in zero attack - how in PES 4 the value at "0" would not shoot or pass forward at all.

Wrong. Attackers still attack, defenders still defend - and build up the attack. This tells me how much of a difference the ratings have been done since old gen. Bear in mind, I have tested on Top Player and Superstar only - so who knows what happens on anything below that.

If you are a PC player. Backup your EDIT.BIN in your doucments/Konami/Save folder

then Download the PES EDITOR 13 here:

Then go to the Global Functions tab. At the very bottom is the "Team Style" parameters:

Change

Slider: "Pressing" to Equal ( = ) under operation and value should be "0".

After that

Slider: "Defensive Line" to Equal ( = ) under operation and value should be "100".

After that

Slider: "Compactness" to Equal ( = ) under operation and value should be "100".

After that

Go to the top where it says "Abilities" - then where it says Sliders "1-99 stats"

Click to select

Slider: "Attack", to Equal ( = ) under operation value should be "0".

sounds good. I find that the cpu presses enough for my tastes, so I probably won't touch that number. Another thing is that I find Professional to be a challenge for me so who knows what that will turn out like.

Also, the editor is only good if you have a patch installed, correct? I tried it with the default pes ("straight out of the box") and obviously didnt work.

Editor should work fine. All it does is open the EDIT.BIN file (option file).

The pressing is not just about the CPU though. It's for your team as well. It's essential. It ranges from how the CPU reacts on losing possession, and how your defenders do not sprint backwards just because the ball is out of their own posession. In real life we see the defenders, if they are already attacking, stay up there as an outlet to pass to or even shoot (Rafael today for example for Man U?).

Try it first before omitting values. I kept it down to 3 so it can be easily editable.

So just to make sure, it doesnt matter if Im using PESEdit patch and the changes will take effect immediately in my ML (or will I have to restart).

I actually logged on to ask you where you download these editors and patches. The only place I know is Pes-patch.

Hey man. Good news is you don't need a patch - just an option file. Bad news, from what I know, is that because these are editing team styles and ratings - I'm unsure of whether they work with an existing ML or not :/

I'll definitely test some ML things in a bit. My main concern that happened in PES4/WE9LE when editing the ATTACK value - the scores of simmed matches were very low, and hardly any striker had more than 4 goals in a season :0

Will be testing ML tonight like I said. Had to cancel the upload as I wanted to add commentary. Editing right now and hopefully can upload in the next hour

Sounds great Matt, looking forward to try these out eventually. The good thing is with those three edited values you can still get teams to play close to their counter part with the tactics. Also would love to see the video if you uploaded it already.

Agreed, Royce. I wanted to keep the authenticity of the teams intact. This was a tough decision because even editing those three values I was afraid every team will play the same - thankfully that wasn't the case.

Ah yeah - After the Real Madrid - Barca, I played it again at the Nou Camp and was thrashed 4-0 thanks to a Messi Hat-trick. The key with these edits is that it builds up the attack in the right way. It's not perfect - and I'm not done editing - but it looks good when Marcelo or Dani Alves sprints up to help - and then stay up to try to score.

Wow. Found two more key values to change - very excited after 2 games just played - talk about a battle.

Still needs some testing - but I think we are close.

Values considering:

1. All Teams - Defensive Line = 100 (high)
*PES 13 by default seems to have a high line, but leaves a lot of gaps open. What I thought this would do was increase the priority to stop the attack early on, so "high" as in "high priority". It seems to have done the trick - but I think it will work best with the next change:

2. All Players - Defensive Awareness = 0
*Yes, this awakens all players to be defensive when necessary. I thought if I placed this at 100 it would make players unrealistically good. As a result, being at 0 - the players are forced to react based on their skills - such as a core one in "response".

Unfortunately I won't be able to edit or test until after work. However, for now, adding those two values pretty much makes this complete. Very excited - and will have video up tomorrow night.

Damn, Matt. Thanks a lot for this. I still havent tested but the videos look good. It does seem to play smarter. It seems Im gonna get my butt whooped bc in pro I sometimes struggle. Are you still seeing a lot of through balls from the AI (80% of the goals they score on me come from that).
Hopefully I won't have to start my ML again. Let me know if after these changes you think it doesnt need anymore tweaks.

I think that you made another hole in your settings.That goal from Benzema came from direct through ball through middle because of the compatness set to wide.You said that because of compatness set to wide 100 cpu can easily defend sideline through ball,but it will harder defend through balls through the middle.What do you think?

This helps the through sideline play quite a bit actually. I'll have a video tonight - in the mean time, if you want - try it out in full. There are going to be some things that I cannot fix the engine. Will have to wait for yair or nesa, or jenkey - to release their gameplay patches to see if it helps. I'm not a hex editor nor a programmer - I just globally edited certain values that I know make a difference

I'm definitely excited, man. I was starting to get scared because I had no soccer game to play with these issues. FIFA 13 was going to my one last hope - and then of course to the reliable PES 6.

I am seeing through balls, but not as the absolute main source of attack. It's refreshing - but it's quite early still. Can't wait to test though
